Kid Cudi - Man on the Moon (09/15/09)
This leaked today, and it's really good. Definitely worth a purchase for any hip hop fan looking for something different.

I'm interested. I was wondering when his album was going to come out. I just forgot about him over the summer after talking about Day and Night with my students during the spring semester. It is a great break from what has become the norm for rap releases (which for the most part suck and that is why I can't call them hip-hop). Thanks for the heads up.

A KiD Named CuDi could've easily been released as an album (which it is technically overseas on Tuesday), but I've been really looking forward to this. He's one of my favorite rappers to hit the scene in awhile so I'm looking forward to this.

I gave it a listen earlier and I can't say whether I like it or not just yet.

The album is great, very surprised. Sounds like The Love Below, Food and Liquor, 808's and Heartbreak, and Songs About Girls...put them all in a blender and something like this album might come out.

Very well done album. I gave it a spin earlier this week and truly enjoyed it. CuDi is a very "different" rapper - I like his style. The production was really good, too. Definitely in my Top 10 of 2009.

I noticed he's playing some MTV related festival at the Merriweather Post Pavillion in Maryland in late october with Paramore headlining and AFI and Dead By Sunrise (Chester Bennington's side project), and odd lineup for sure, but i got tickets

It has about 5 songs that I really like and I pretty much hate the rest. This is probably the most emo hip hop cd ever. The production is really good but Cudi's whining kinda ruins a lot of it. "Nobody understands me, I have night terrors, nobody talks to me, i'm a lonely stoner." Kinda makes me what to kick his face after a while. That Kanye song is very catchy though.

I like Cudi, but I don't think he's a great "rapper" in the traditional sense. He's ok, but I never think "damn, Cudi is spitting that shit!". I definitely enjoy his music though, which is the most important thing. I think I like him best when he's singing, though.

Yeah, he's not a lyricist. He's emotional, musical, soulful, avante garde. Its good though, hiphop could use some passionate lyrics. It just comes across as truthful, exposing your soul type stuff. He's kinda Prince Paul-ish. Even though Paul was a producer, it's along the lines of if you like Kid Cudi check out Prince Paul.

bought this a couple days ago and lovin' it so far. one of those albums that really should been listened to from beginning to end to get the full experience. plays out like a journey through his dreams and nightmares, which is what i think cudi was going for. great cd.
