Has anyone heard about this band? Apparently it is the original Evanescence lineup without Amy Lee. In her stead is American Idol castoff Carly Smithson. Soundwise she/the new band aren't much of a departure from Evanescence.

What's bizarre is, according to their wiki page, Rather than an album, the band will release a few songs about every eight weeks for a year and a half. Strange way of starting out.

I hadn't heard about it, but I like the song they have on Myspace. Apparently they announced this back in June, and even offered the song for free download. No longer available though.

Very similar to the Going Under song. Decent, but I wouldn't have known it wasn't Amy Lee just from listening.

I kind of like it. Of course I can't really tell much of a difference between this girl and Amy Lee, so that's probably why.

They are definitely very similar but I think Lee has a more powerful voice.

Since the Irish girl looks like Amy, this will work for the casual fan, much in the same way KISS had interchangeable Erics on drums. "Carr/Singer ahhh it's still sorta post ace KISS"

Fans who appreciated Amy's powerful unique voice will see it for the money grab and reach for relevancy that it is.

Carly Smithson has always been a low budget Amy Lee, and she sounds no different on this song. Lee is just a much, much, much, much, much, much (much) better singer than Smithson, who I do like fwiw.

Sorry, but that is a tired observation. I am betting almost every band in existence has had its difficult members. Having been in a few bands myself (over many, many years), it often seemed the drama would never end.

Sorry, but that's is a ridiculous thing to say. There are NO ORIGINAL MEMBERS OF THE BAND LEFT. It is safe to say that Amy ran them all off. To state otherwise is plainly stupid.

Not necessarily. It could simply be a matter of three dudes that want to jam together again.

What I don't get is if you're going to quit your successful band (Evanescence) to start another band that sounds just like your last band and even has three of the same band members, why not just fire the lead singer and keep the successful band name, people are aware of, to yourself?

Probably because they quit the band first, and forfeited the name to her. Since Lee and Moody started the band together, I'm assuming that they're the only two who would have any claim over the name. Since Moody was the first to leave, I don't think there's anyway he could get the name back. As successful as Evanescence was when he left, you can be damn sure the lawyers made him and all the other members sign away any rights to the name.

Well, that's what I was getting at, instead of Moody leaving (since he's apparently close enough to the other guys for them to start another band) why not boot her instead? You're probably right about the lawyers though.

I coulden't stand Carly's song choices on American Idol but I love her first album...back when she was known as Carly Hennessey. She did some songs that had lyrics that were more explicit than anything the other popstars were doing at the time.

Yup, in the official EV board, Amy Lee posted that she and Terry have been writing for the next album.

Also plans have changed for WATF. One of the band says that they are working on a full length album instead of a song every 3 months.

With the name "We are the Fallen" it seems like the former members of Evanescence formed their own tribute band.
