What Are You Listening to? (July 2009) edition
Well to start off things here we go!

Then it's been a long-time but hey I am in the mood!

Then after that the man--the legend--the music!

The Boxer Rebellion : Union
My front-runner for album of the year as of now. Such a wonderful album.
And this:

Bjork : Voltaic
Makes me a little sad I skipped out on the tour. Only a little sad - as good as this release makes it sound ["Hyperballad"/"Freak" mash-up!], there's far too much 'Medulla' and the non-good parts of 'Volta' to have made it worth it. Can't hold a candle to the Greatest Hits tour as far as I'm concerned.

La Roux : La Roux
Showed up from Amazon.co.uk while I was in NYC this weekend and it is gooooood.
My Girls Aloud singles box also showed up and I'll be digging into that soon.

Week one

Michael Jackson - Thriller
Michael Jackson - HIStory
Moby - Wait For Me
Weezer - Pinkerton
The Mars Volta - Octahedron
Rhymefest - Man in the Mirror
From last month's thread, which I didn't want to bump:
I've only given it one or two run-throughs, but I'm digging it. I have listened to "Remedy" and "New in Town" a lot, though. Great songs. I put the former on my Summer Mix CD.
I got exposed to that album from these threads, which are proving to be a great resource for being exposed to new music. I'll check something out based on others' glowing reviews or simply because the cover art is interesting. Thanks, guys!

This is one of those albums that I listened to a couple times, thought "eh", and put it away.
Now, a couple months later, decided to give it another shot, and finally "get it". AWESOME.
I mean, read this description from amazon:
the storming fifth album from the Swedish collective, who have returned with a stronger, heavier sound taking inspiration from a diary discovered in their rehearsal space written by a mental patient imprisoned for the murder of his wife. The concept follows the imaginary world the patient built to explain the murder, involving bizarre half human/half animal characters, and ultimately blaming the death on someone else.
