Las Vegas Road Trip Playlist
First, I apologize if there's a thread for this already - I searched but the term Las Vegas shows up a lot.
So, we're going to Vegas in a couple weeks. We're driving from So Cal to Vegas, and I want a good playlist of music to get us in the mood! It has to be semi-clean as there will be a 4yo in the car... but hopefully she falls asleep early into the drive.
So far I have:
Waking up in Vegas - Katy Perry
Silver and Gold - U2
I suppose I need at least one Elvis song...
So, what are your Vegas mood music playlists?

Re: Las Vegas Road Trip Playlist
Maybe the Dead Kennedy's version of "Viva Las Vegas"
And get some Kyuss on that playlist. Not necessarily for Vegas itself but just because you'll be driving through the desert which is what Kyuss is all about.

White Rabbit by Jefferson Airplane
sure you can play it in the car, but the preferred way is thusly.
Well I would say you need to find yourself a hotel room, play White Rabbit on a hand-held boomboxish player and sit in a tepid bath. Right when White Rabbit peaks have your friend throw it into the bath with you!
You can also have the option to have your freind then throw Grapefruit at you afterwards!
ENJOY!

I've got this CD:
1. It Is Betting Time! - Ultra-Lounge: Vegas-Baby!
2. With Plenty Of Money And You - Count Basie & Tony Bennett
3. Something's Comin' - Vic Damone
4. That Old Black Magic - Louis Prima & Keely Smith
5. Danke Schoen - Wayne Newton With The Newton Brothers
6. This Could Be The Start Of Something - Jack Jones
7. Once In A Lifetime - Bobby Darin
8. I'm Shooting High - Nat King Cole
9. Lucky Day - Judy Garland
10. Who's Got The Action - Dean Martin
11. Games People Play - Mel Torme
12. It's Not Unusual - Tom Jones
13. On The Sunny Side Of The Street - Keely Smith
14. Ain't That A Kick In The Head - Sammy Davis, Jr.
15. Are You Having Any Fun? - Count Basie & Tony Bennett
16. Night And Day - Steve Lawrence
17. Big Spender - Peggy Lee
18. Pennies From Heaven - Louis Prima
19. Shangri-La - Wayne Newton
20. Ace In The Hole (Live At The Flamingo) - Bobby Darin
Swingin' AND kid-friendly.
(The CD cover is fuzzy green felt with a working roulette wheel!)
This is also a great set:
About 4 years ago I made a CD for my friend's Vegas bachelor party. I'll have to dig that out and let you know what I put on it (though the strip club-themed songs - like the Beatnuts' "Work That Pole" - may not fly for your trip ).

Re: Las Vegas Road Trip Playlist
There are variables. Are you driving during daylight, or at nighttime? Will you be tired, or recently rested.
I like respecting the Mohave and pay tribute to her while I drive the 15, and not the destination I am aiming for. But then I am usually driving AWAY from Las Vegas, even though unfortunately I always drive back.
I listen to Explosions In The Sky [EITS]. Or Tiger Army if it's night and I am driving from being up all night. I listen to EITS while driving through scenic areas of the Pacific NW like Washington and Oregon as well. Hell, EITS should be listening music for any road trip anywhere [there, I said it].

Re: Las Vegas Road Trip Playlist
We'll be driving in the afternoon/evening. We are taking back roads, and won't hit the 15 until a few miles west of State Line.
Thanks all for some of the suggestions. Once I have some time to get into it, I'll post the playlist that I come up with.

Re: Las Vegas Road Trip Playlist
Well, since I wanted this to be one long playlist rather than a CD, I just started putting songs that my wife likes (its her birthday trip to Vegas after all). The playlist is at 250 songs at this point, and there isn't really a Vegas theme to it... though there are a couple of "Vegas" songs on there.
Thanks anyway for all the input.
