Fuckin' Dr. Dre. does it to me every time. Seemingly basic beats that don't seem THAT special on the first few listens, then you find yourself later humming the music all day long.
Right now, "Hello" is getting a lot of play from me.

I was pretty hesitant about how good this would end up being. He was 5 years removed from his worst album and put out a couple mediocre singles leading up to the release, but I am really digging Relapse quite a bit. The singles don't do this justice one bit. "Insane", "Medicine Ball", "Old Times Sake", "Deja Vu", "Beautiful" & "Underground" are all immensely great tracks...hell I even like the "My Mom" track...some great beats on that one...great beats all throughout.

Re: Eminem - Relapse (5/19/09)
After Nick Cannon heard Eminem's new song "Bagpipes from Baghdad," in which the rapper mocks Cannon's wife, Mariah Carey, Cannon was outraged. He wrote a 500 word blog debating on whether or not he should fight Eminem. Eventually, he concluded that the answer is yes. "Man to man, let's meet up and deal with this like adults", Nick wrote. "This is my invitation to you, whenever and wherever you like sir. So when you come out of your introverted hiding place and ask your bodyguards if you can go out and play by yourself, I'm here Pimp!" Eminem has yet to respond to this.

My dude, you now have not one, but TWO Em albums ranked ahead of The Marshall Mathers LP?!
Fuckin' Dr. Dre. does it to me every time. Seemingly basic beats that don't seem THAT special on the first few listens, then you find yourself later humming the music all day long.

Right now, "Hello" is getting a lot of play from me.Second before Relapse came out was The Eminem Show. It was a grittier and more politically charged album but I enjoyed the songs and the CD as a whole a lot more than MMLP. I'm also in the small minority that really liked Encore - not my favorite of his obviously, but I think it was unique in a different way that to this day when I still listen to it has me questioning whether or not it's an Eminem album.
Now I'd rank it as:
1) The Slim Shady LP
2) Relapse
3) The Eminem Show
4) The Marshall Mathers LP
5) Encore
I also really enjoy The Re-Up but that's not a "true" Eminem album. I'd say Encore and MMLP are neck and neck though. I just think a lot of the songs were good, some great (The Way I Am for example), but as time has gone on it really has nothing in comparison with his other stuff. That's just me though since most fans of his I know consider MMLP to be the ultimate in his music.

I'm super hyped for this. I'm liking the singles, which is odd because as the past showed us, his singles are always the weaker links of the albums. From what it sounds like after reading some posts here, the album is solid.

Re: Eminem - Relapse (5/19/09)
I'll get flack for this, but after so long now since I listened to The Real Slim Shady day and night in April and May of 2000 and The Way I Am infiltrated my brain along with Stan during the Fall of that year as well, I really would rank it near the bottom of my list. One of the greatest hip-hop albums of all-time without a second thought, but The Slim Shady LP is by far my favorite Em album. The raw production mixed with the mini-stories in each song just blows me away even till this day.

Kim is actually one of the only songs on MMLP that I still enjoy. Amityville, Kim, The Kids (on the 2-disc release and clean version), Stan, and The Way I Am are the only ones I can say are still solid. Encore ranks about the same, but had more songs I liked. Just my taste I guess. Kind of different, too, since I enjoy dark Eminem/Slim Shady than I do his "whacky" or goofy songs.

I am ready for this. Encore sucked but The Eminem Show was amazing. Glad to hear this one is getting good reviews. I wonder if Detox is ever going to make it out.
