Also seemed like he was playing his Bad Santa character after downing a Xanax.
I think everyone was talking low because they all knew Billy Bob was pissed and they were just waiting to see how the awkward situation was gonna play out. You can see one of the guys nervously fiddling with the headphone cord wishing he wasn't there.

Classy approach.

Billy Bob had a point, but he enforced it way too much.
Agree about the DJ. Nice work staying calm and collected. The band looked pretty nervous about the whole thing.

Billy Bob had a point for sure, and the interview picked up once they called a truce, but that still doesn't explain the beginning of the interview where he is just clueless.

He decided to turn the rest of the interview into a train wreck as soon as the DJ mentioned his film career in the very beginning.

It's the feature story on yahoo.com right now. Haha. Not the press he was looking for, probably.

The DJ never said anything of the sort about his band just being a "hobby". That introduction was about as complimentary to his musical career as one could be.

Hey when you think you're in the same league as Tom Petty, you don't want to have some two bit DJ mention your stupid movie career.

Billy Bob is cool stuff. I got a kick out of his schtick. You could see the gleam in his eye when he was doing the monster magazine story. Pretty awesome.

The interviewer did a great job dealing with the shenanigans, he really handled that like a pro.

You almost became a professional baseball player, didn't you?

I don't know... Maybe.

He was a teenage music historian.

I think the interviewer should get a medal. Other than throwing him out of the studio he did about as well as possible.

I still like Billy Bob and I actually have a couple of his records.

This is a riot

He's even provided us with a potential catch phrase: "Would you ask Tom Petty that question?"

I dont know how he kept a straight face when talking about that movie magazine. I almost pissed myself when he started that non-sequiter.

Seemed like he was challenging the DJ at the end by calling implying that Canadians were panzies. Mr. DJ didn't bite though.

During the show you should yell out some Tom Petty song requests.

Re: Billy Bob Thornton ruins the careers of his bandmates

BBT was a total douche.

Jian Ghomeshi is an easy going interviewer and respects his guests. BBT was given a glowing introduction with only a quick mention of his film career (which was nothing buy complimentary). The interview stayed on the topic of music and the film thing only came up again because BBT was acting like a dick. He continued to act like a suck when tried to diss Canadian audiences.

Big credit to Jian for keeping his cool with that cokehead.

I feel sorry for the rest of the band.

This clip is hilarious. I saw him late last year with his band for a signing -- he was quite enthusiastic and personable for that.
