What i love about them too, is that while it may be a more mainstreamish sound, its far from a true mainstream hard rock sound (think seether, and all the crap they play on rock radio.

In comparison, i think Blood Mountain sold like 11,000 its first week
MASTODON's new album, "Crack The Skye", sold 41,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 11 on The Billboard 200 chart.

Never heard these guys before, listened through a couple times and I must admit this is the best album of the year so far. My favorite song so far is The Last Baron, it's epic.

Epic show in San Francisco tonight. If you like Mastodon do not sleep on this tour. The visuals they have to go along with their entire set (including Crack The Skye from start to finish) are pretty rad.
Also I was happy to see that Kylesa and Intronaut opened. I liked both bands before coming in and it was nice to see a show where I enjoyed all the bands (which is rare)

Show on tues was great. I got to meet Brann Dailor as well. That guy is a beast on drums and is a hellava nice guy as well. Talked to the fans that were waiting by the tour bus for a good 10 minutes or so. he did mention that Mastodon may release a new dvd next year.
Also got my picture with him

Rypro, did you wear the shirt of the band you were there to see?

Re: Mastodon "Crack The Skye"
I always found that hilarious
There were always two kinds of people at shows. The ones that bought merch and wore it because they didn't want to hold it or sling it over their shoulders. Then there were the others who wore what they bought because it showed that extra mile in terms of how much they liked the band.
Though isn't paying for a ticket and being up front singing every word show that you are a big fan enough?
P.S: This is no offense to you, just what I've noticed as of late (or more)

Regarding shirts, when I go to a metal show, I wear shirts that aren't from metal artists. Like Bob Marley, The Smiths, or Siouxsie and the Banshees.
But when I go to a concert that isn't metal, like Ani DiFranco, I'll wear an Iron Maiden or Slayer shirt.

Anyone else think they seemed a little off on Letterman, like they were nervous or something? They usually play, and sing, much tighter. I was pretty underwhelmed. Also sucked that they cut down the intro.
