New Dream Theater, "Black Clouds & Silver Linings," coming in June.
http://www.eddietrunk.com/index.cfm/...394/pid/400512
Progressive metal veterans Dream Theater have announced "Black Clouds & Silver Linings" as the title of their tenth studio album. The band commenced work on the album – their second for Roadrunner Records, following up 2007's "Systematic Chaos" — in October of last year.
Roadrunner will release the record on June 23rd. In addition to the standard version CD, the album will also be available on vinyl LP, as well as a 3-disc Special Edition CD that will include the full album, a CD of instrumental mixes of the album and a CD of six cover songs, the titles of which will be revealed at a later date.
Six weeks prior to the June 23rd issue date, Roadrunner will release one cover song per week through digital retailers.
Drummer Mike Portnoy and guitarist John Petrucci are once again at the helm as producers, while Paul Northfield mixed the record.
The band will embark on a world tour in support of the album beginning in Europe throughout June which will be followed by the second edition of the band’s Progressive Nation tour featuring Zappa Plays Zappa, Pain Of Salvation and Beardfish throughout North America in July/August.
A video for the first single, "A Rite of Passage" will be shot in late March.
The track listing for "Black Clouds & Silver Linings" is as follows:
1. A Nightmare to Remember
2. A Rite of Passage
3. Wither
4. The Shattered Fortress
5. The Best of Times
6. The Count of Tuscany

3-disc version for me for sure, although I'm sure I'll be impatient and will pay to download the covers each week.

Terrible album title. Didn't care that much for "Systematic Chaos" but it's DT so I'll give it a shot.

How'd I miss this last night? I was just coming here to post about it. I loved Systematic Chaos. I thought it was a step up from Octavarium and 6 degrees. I'm in for the 3 discer, of course.
I love the artwork, it's has very I&W/Awake/ACOS feel.
I'd love to catch them on tour this time. I think the last time I saw them was on tour with Queensryche.

hopefully they'll play longer then an hour and a half this time, or do a large club/theater "An Evening with" tour where they go all out and do marathon 3.5 hour sets

I hate this Progressive Nation bullshit where they do not play a regular-length set. I'll pass if that is the only way I can see them.

I'm sure they'll do a proper tour after the Progressive Nation thing. This will just be the beginning of their tour cycle.

Might check them out.
Oh and I hope Im not the only one who hopes Portnoy stays far away from the mic on this album, as screaming/death metal type vocals don't fit the band at all (and Portnoy can't do them well anyways)

If you check out PoS, I'd check their earlier stuff first. My personal opinion is their lead singer's increasingly shrill politics have hurt their later efforts.
Try Entropia, One Hour By The Concrete Lake or Remedy Lane. Definitely don't start with Be - it was very experimental and seemed to be more tailored to a live performance. Haven't heard Scarsick enough to really have an opinion.

Be & Scarsick are my two favorite albums by PoS. Scarsick is probably more accessible though. I would equate jumping right into Be to be similar to jumping right into SFAM.
Not to derail too much, but I checked their page for any new info on a new album since Daniel has supposedly been working on it for a while and found out they have a double live CD/ double DVD coming out in a couple weeks called Ending Themes "On the Life and Death of" Pain of Salvation.

Good, no Houston date. I hope that means they come thru later without the package tour.

DT is my favorite band, but that Deluxe doesn't sound too hot (much like the LTE box set~ Did Portnoy buy another house or something?).
As of right now they do have Amazon beat by about $10 on the SE set. Will Amazon match them?

Thanks.
I think the site is getting hammered. My first attempt timed out in Chrome. My second attempt, in Firefox, is pulling it at a snails pace.
*edit - spoke too soon. Mine's frozen at 10.7MB in Firefox now.
