ID a song for me

I was in the supermarket yesterday, and a nice-sounding song was playing in the background at one point. I had heard it before and was struck by it then too. My ability to describe it is compromised because I didn't hear any lyrics and only the chorus stuck out. So here's my vague description:

I think it's a very recent song, possibly even a current one, and it might be very well-known; I wouldn't know, as I don't follow today's music. I think the singer is male. It's a pop song with a soaring, ethereal quality.
The main chorus theme, which I believe is vocal rather than instrumental goes something like:
"Ah woowoowoo" (upward inflection at end)
"Ah woowoowoo" (downward inflection at end)
And sometimes, sung lyrics accompany the "ah woowoowoo" chorus, which adds extra power and dimension. The song seems to build in tempo and/or intensity, but that may be my imagination.

Thanks for any assistance.

Re: ID a song for me

Good guess, but that's not it. The song I'm thinking of is more dreamy and pleasant, less harsh and aggressive. I think it's also a lot more recent. Thanks for the guess, though.

That's not it either, but the feel and tempo aren't too far off the mark. It's definitely not R&B or Hip Hop, though.

Problem is, I have already forgotten how it goes. But I would immediately recognize it if I heard it again.

Can you be more specific?

If it's Coldplay, it sounds like you're describing the end of "The Scientist".

Re: ID a song for me

Thanks, but it's neither of those. However, it could be something by Coldplay. The sound is similar. I'll check their catalogue at amg and report back.

Re: ID a song for me

Thanks for pointing me in the direction of Coldplay, guys. "Viva La Vida" is the one I'm looking for. I knew you could do it.
I was wrong about the part I described being the chorus. It only comes once toward the end. I remember it differently, but this is definitely the song. I may have to pick up the CD (yeah, I'm old-school).

No problem. Everyone else chiming in with the Coldplay idea steered me in the right direction.

Good song.
