I notice that too. My friend Chad has been a big fan of theirs since 1982 but hearing this album made him put his tickets up on Ebay because he has no interest in seeing them now. I mean, the album isn't THAT bad. He seems to hold the opinion that DM hasn't been the same since Alan Wilder left

Besides a few songs, I didn't really care for the rest of it on my first listen. It was just an "eh, is that all?" reaction. It's definitely a grower, and there's only one song I could do without and that's Fragile Tension.

"Hate" is too strong of a word. I would think anyone who's a big DM fan would at least like a few of the songs, and that the overall album would be average. But I don't get those who say it's bad.

And that's kinda silly selling the concert tickets based on this album. There'll be like 5 songs performed during the concert, with the rest being their past songs. I'm really looking forward to this concert, especially to see what kind of visuals will be used to match the spacey sounds.

Agreed. Selling your concert tickets because you "hate" the new album? Well, that just makes you an idiot.

Have to say after my first listen today I am not terribly impressed either. Maybe it will be a grower.

I didn't care for Exciter for a long time - I think it actually took seeing some of songs on the concert DVD's for me to get into them. This one just kind feels like it's meandering around.

Still buying it, but a step down from Playing The Angel IMO.

Not a fan of any DM remix. But the 7 inch of "Oh Well" is pretty damn great. It's like the love child of Depeche Mode and Curve. My two favorite bands. So I'm thrilled with this B-side.

Streaming album at www"dot"dhnet"dot"be"slash"dm

Daytripper, could you listen to Come Back and see if that's the version you've been listening to?

If that's the official, then looks like I haven't been listening to the right version the past two weeks. I've only had the chance to check out Come Back, and it's better than my version of it.

I've confirmed that stream is the official album.

This Come Back version really blows away the one I've been listening to.

Nyko, sorry for the late response. Yes, that is the "official" album. Same as the one that was leaked two weeks ago. However, the quality of that leak was not great, let me tell you. I only had the DVD with the 5.1 surround sound, that I ripped for an audio CD. And even that was so-so quality on my stereo. But I got my hands on the actual album today, and it sounds 100% better than what was leaked! Much more bass, the vocals are more clear.

You mean The Cure right because I have never hear of Curve?

 No, I meant Curve. Check them out sometime. It's the band that Garbage was heavily influenced by. Alan Wilder is a huge fan, and produced at least one of their songs (that I know of). Tim Simenon produced their album "Come Clean". And he also produced Depeche Mode's "Ultra". Even though the following album is discontinued, you can probably find it on Ebay or Half.com for a reasonable price. Get it, trust me.

With CA sales tax it came out to $61 for me, but that's still cheaper than $79.99.

And worth every penny it's just AMAZING those B-sides on second CD are so tight but when you think about Depeche are the masters of B-sides.

Yes, they are. But the B-sides here are just o.k. though, as a whole. "Ghost" is the best. I'd give that an A+. And the best DM B-side since "Dangerous" and "Sea of Sin". "Oh Well" is the second best, A-. After that, most are just filler. "Sun Moon Stars" is a B-, "Light" (THE most un-DM song they ever done IMO) is a C. And "Esque" is just a 30 something second musical interlude and completely forgettable. Like "Spacewalker". D+

Anyone who got the iTunes pass finding all the track numbers messed up when you download? I have had to go in and fix them. Annoying as hell. I mean I guess I should put the videos with the whole pass.

The CD and DVD set are $9.99 at Target this week. That's probably what I'll get.

Long, long time fan of DM and this new album completely sucks. I listened to it once and do not have the urge to ever listen to it again, which marks the first time a DM album has had that effect on me. Even the underwhelming Exciter got quite a few plays on my digital device back in the day.

How they manage to go from the brilliance of Playing the Angel to this tripe is beyond me.
