Re: New Depeche Mode

Well, this time the second leg will consist of countries outside of the U.S. No word yet whether they'll be back here.

Re: New Depeche Mode

Selected 2 tickets for the Monday night show the Bowl at exactly 10am and it gave me section J1, which is horrible, IMHO. I just can't get excited to spend $125.00 a ticket for this. I'll wait for the DVD.

Re: New Depeche Mode

I also went for Monday night tickets (easier for me to get the day off from work), and at first got section G2. Threw that back and got Terrace Row 1220, aka a box seat. So I'm a happy camper. Yeah, it was $200 after Ticketmaster fees, but I recently spent $200 for a worse seat to see Van Morrison, so I'm not feeling so bad about this. Imagine, a show at the Bowl where I'll actually be able to see the people on stage. Shocking!

Yes, this is the worst concert I've ever tried to get tickets for (Madison Square Garden). Right at 10:00 AM, when they went on sale, the ONLY tickets you could find were in Section 10 (the last on the floor), in the back few rows. What.....the......fuck!?? Not one single seat ANYWHERE on the sides showed up. I threw these tickets back again and again. Finally, 30 minutes in, I got floor section 7, row G. Not great, but better than the last row on the floor. Fuck you TicketMaster.

Re: New Depeche Mode

Honestly, there has to be a better way than Ticketmaster. Instead of offering tickets at random, they should just offer a list of available seats. I'm still not quite sure why they don't do this in the first place.

Re: New Depeche Mode

Ticketmaster is a scam of the highest order, they are basically in with the ticket scalpers up front. Same thing happened when Coldplay tickets went on sale for Dallas a whilte back, Ticketmaster's own scalping site [cant remember the name at the moment] was selling CP tickets for $700 *before* they went on sale to the public. Now that TM and LiveNation are one and the same, the problem will only get worse. I've been a hardcore DM collector and fan for as long as I can remember (I'm 35 now) and this is really starting to p*ss me off.

By the way, got the 9 track club promo for Wrong, and this group of remixes is the best in a long time. Just about every genre of dance music is represented well and the mixes all bring the HEAT! Magda's remix is stunning, she really showed up all the other boys this time!

Did the Ticketmaster/Live Nation merger actually go through? The antitrust commission seemed pretty against it.

A new show has been added to Anaheim for those not happy with the Hollywood Bowl.

Re: New Depeche Mode

I checked for the second MSG show that was added...$125 for bullshit from the side seats. Forget it.

I don't really blame Ticketmaster pr MSG on this one, DM charges too much for their shows plain and simple.

Alright, just heard the album and guys....it is fan-fucking-tastic. It's pure electronic bliss. Just wait until you hear "Peace". You feel like you went back in a time capsule to the early 80's.

how would you rank it with the post-Violator albums? I thought PTA was decent but even then, I pretty much put it on the shelf to stay after about three listens.

Anyways, has it leaked?

Can't reveal my source. But I'm on my fifth spin of it now. The closest post-"Violator" it sounds like is "Playing the Angel". However, it's not only very very retro Depeche Mode. But retro new wave in general. Dave sounds like Simon LeBon once in a while on his vocals. And there is one song that sounds like the lovechild of OMD and the Human League. I just don't know how they are going to do these songs in concert. Because they've gone from a full on electronic group live to a "band". And those damn live drums are going to ruin these new songs. The older keyboards Martin brought in for this album work just beautifully. There is some very deep bass going on throughout the album. And lots of weird and wonderful sounds. Amazing stuff.

Re: New Depeche Mode

This album has awesome sounds, and those Ebay equipment have really been put to use. I haven't listened with headphones yet, but I'm sure it'll sound fantastic with them. Dave voice sounds just great.

On the other hand, half the songs just don't do anything for me lyrically.

Overall based on one listening, it's a mellow album with great electronics.

Well good for you. I didn't know it leaked online. I have the 5.1 DVD, and not from online.

I wish Mute/WB would release the World Violation concert. It was professionally film but scrapped. I have a bootleg copy and it's a great.

Re: New Depeche Mode

on first listen it's okay, but nothing amazing.

I have to admit it's hard to approach latter day DM though with virgin ears. That run of albums between Some Great Reward to Violator was sheer perfection and everything since just can't compare, even tho they've all been good in their own right. I need to give it more listens to really pick faves.

Re: New Depeche Mode

I listened to it three times in the past few hours. I love it. I don't think there's a weak track on it. And some of the vocal harmonies Martin does are just amazing. "Wrong," "Peace," and "Jezebel" left the biggest impression on me. I definitely prefer it over Playing The Angel, which I enjoy but think is too front-loaded. I'd say it slightly edges out Exciter as their best post-Violator album. Now I really can't wait to see them live.

Re: New Depeche Mode

The music and production for "Perfect" sounds like song was lifted from "A Broken Frame". Classic and yet current.
