Well, I've seen DM live since 1986 and I can tell you they don't have the same playlist for each tour. They try to mix it up for each one. The only album in the last 18 years that they continue to play most if not all the singles is "Songs of Faith and Devotion". And I wish to God they'd scrap all songs off that album for this and any future tours. They are so overdone/overplayed. DM only played one song from "Exciter" on the last tour. They aren't playing any on this one. And only playing one song off "Playing the Angel" this time around. But once again, three stinkin' songs (at a minimum) continue to get played from "SOFAD". I agree they need to do more non single tracks. But their set list is never the same. It just may contain a few songs that need to go.

Re: New Depeche Mode

12-13 of the 22 songs weren't played during the last tour. I don't know about you guys, but for me, that's a lot of mixing up of the songs. In addition, there's 2-3 songs that might change from venue to venue.

Unlike some bands, DM does have good albums to release every time and they aren't afraid to play a lot of songs from the newest album. If it were a band just merely going on tour with no new album to promote, then yeah, they can include a lot more older songs or non-singles. Maybe one day, we'll get a non-singles themed tour for DM. But for now, their formula is working and it's why they've been so successful with their concerts.

Here's a pic of the stage for this concert:

i agree... but if they're a band (see: NIN, U2, Rolling Stones) who puts on an extravagant show, then it's about more than just the songs they play (for me).

I think I used to be more that way, but now I'm more of a "just go out and play your shit" kind of person, where elaborate staging doesn't add much and sometimes detracts. Plus, it probably adds to the cost of the ticket.

I agree. I also think elaborate staging adds to making the concert more expensive anyways. Maybe I'm the exception, but when I go to see an artist I love in concert, I can to see and hear them, not to admire the sets and backup dancers or whatever. If I ever get the chance to see DM, I only want three things. 1. Dave Gahan. 2. Martin Gore and 3. Andy Fletcher (okay, I admit I'd love to go to a concert with Alan Wilder reuniting with them, but that probably won't happen at least for another 10 years)

Alan Wilder will never re-join Depeche Mode because he is happy were stand in his life as artist.

Those years (91-95) were really brutal on him behind the scenes (both Martin and Andrew had alot issue with him).

So for him think it about would be not a chance in hell because he has alot reason to bitter, but who know maybe someday Martin and Andrew will let the egos go to side and let back a truly creative-force in band.

well, I do think it's time to put the drama aside. David was a full blown addict during those years, he's clean and sober now. So if his drug issues was a major reason for leaving the band, then there shouldn't be issues for him coming back.

Anyways, in ten years or whenever it might happen. I remember when Duran Duran fans swore up and down that hell would freeze over before Roger Taylor returned, and look who the drummer is now.

It's was not Dave that may Alan leave the band it's both Martin and Andrew.

Fletch was on case alot because he though he was takening control of the band.

But he made the Depeche sound (82-95) so I think Fletch ego and getting in his face all the time just pushed him over the edge.

And Martin didn't want to listen to anything from anyone (alot personal issues) the band was just mess behind the scenes!

It's true that Wilder didn't quit because of Dave. But I'm sure in some small way that just added to his decision on leaving Depeche Mode. But yes, it's been reported that the main issue was with Fletch. And Gore just didn't give a shit as long as the music was made. I also think in time anything could happen. As they always do in the music industry. Bands get back together all the time. Sure, Wilder is happy. But he certainly doesn't have the fame and making the money he once did. Even if he's still get rolyalties from DM (82-95). And he has to miss all that even a little. Like Fletch, Wilder talks to his fans quite a bit too when he's approached. And I know he said he thinks about being a part of DM every now and then. But I'm sure a pride thing is stopping him. And who knows, maybe Dave/Mart/Fletch are happy with what they have now and want to leave it as is. But I don't know one DM fan that wouldn't want Wilder to join them again. And wouldn't that be the best Depeche Mode swan song? One last album with the four members that produced their best music!

I personally would give just about anything and travel just about anywhere to see a tour where they DON'T use live drums - just a bunch of keyboards - like in the 80's...

Dave is ill and tonight's concert in Athens had to be cancelled. Hope it's nothing serious.

Yes yes and YES, my friend. I've said this for years. I'm glad those G.D. back up singers are gone. If only the live drums would be next. And nothing again Christian, the drummer. He's great. But DM does NOT need a live drummer in concert.

Re: New Depeche Mode

This was pretty much an open secret amongst fans I knew, but they finally went public. I hope his surgery will be successful and he'll have a quick recovery. Even if we lose a tour out of this, I'd much rather have a healthy Dave.

Singer Gahan undergoes cancer op

Depeche Mode singer Dave Gahan has had surgery to remove a cancerous tumour in his bladder, according to the band's official website.

The British electronic band are currently on a world tour but have cancelled several shows because of the 47-year-old's ongoing health problems.

He was diagnosed with gastroenteritis before further medical tests revealed a "low-grade malignant tumour".

It has now been removed. Gahan has been ordered to rest until 8 June.

The band will then resume their Tour Of The Universe in Leipzig, Germany.

Eight shows between now and then have been postponed, including a gig at London's 02 on 30 May. The concerts will be rescheduled to later dates.

The band have also cancelled a planned appearance at the Pinkpop festival in the Netherlands on 31 May.

In a statement on the site, Gahan "sincerely thanks his fans for their support, understanding and patience".

The band go on to say they "deeply regret any problems or inconveniences the cancellations and postponements may have caused".

Man, I hope Dave is alright. And, more selfishly, I hope my show isn't delayed/canceled.

I really liked that video. I also liked the video for wrong (though it did remind me of Karma Police).

The Peace video is alright.

They resumed their tour on Monday, and here's an epic clip of the waving hands in Berlin last night:

That crowd is insane! But then again, so are German fans

And the "Peace" video is probably the best DM video in a while.
Too bad they're not it.

Check out this guys videos from that Berlin concert.

Video quality is amazing and it was shot with just a digital camera, not a camcorder.
