Re: Chickenfoot anyone?

I've already given it two listens today and am in love with it. I can already tell it's going to be my 'summer cd' in the car. Just all around fun music. Perfect for a sunny day with the windows down.

Wow, your the first I've heard express this sentiment. I couldn't disagree more. I listened to those two tracks for a couple of weeks in my car. Very good, straight ahead rock!

Anyone who starts the "Why is Satch doing this?" do some reading about the evolution of Chickenfoot. Satch has always wanted to be part of a real band where he could just be one of the guys and just play good 'ol rock'n roll.

I picked it up today at BB. It's pretty good. It sounds like they are having a blast. I'd love to see them live. I've never left a Hagar (or Van Hagar) show disappointed.

And if you've ever seen Satch live, you'll know that he enjoys a good jam session. Hell, I think the only reason he started the G3 tour was to get together on stage with some other guitarists.

Re: Chickenfoot anyone?

They played "Oh Yeah" on the "Tonight Show" last night. It's funny that I was having a discussion about the order of the songs on the album and had said 'Oh Yeah' wasn't strong enough for the no. 4 hole. I relate song ordering on an album to baseball line-ups. I want the first song to get on base, the second song to move it along, then I want the big bats to come out. I'd have gone with 'Get It Up' , or 'Turnin' Left' for the four hole. But they sound great live, and I can't wait to see them.
I'm loving the album.

Listened to it yesterday. Found it to be pretty generic rock and disappointing.

Re: Chickenfoot anyone?

I'll give this one a spin. Chickenfoot is just about the worst name for a band, however.

They couldn't have come up with a different name?

I thought chickenfoot was only a "working" name. Guess they liked it.

Actually, they could have called it HSAS http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hagar_S...ronson_Shrieve

I liked the recorded song Oh Yeah!, but did not like the live version on tv. It sounded odd to me. Maybe it was the tv I was watching it on.

The harmonies are great throughout. Michael Anthony Sobolewski proves his value.

Picked up the album today at BB. Played through one time. I think it's good. If you like Van Hagar you'll like this outing. Loved the HSAS comment above. Perfect.

Two weeks at #4. I don't think anyone expected it to do this well.

Saw this at blabbermouth. I thought it was pretty cool:

Re: Chickenfoot anyone?

I'm really enjoying this one. It certainly doesn't break any new ground, but it's nice to hear Satch in a vocal band situation. I always thought very highly of Chad Smith with RHCP, but it's great to hear how well he fits into a straight-ahead rock context as well. Very solid effort and glad to see it's doing so well on the charts. Perfect summer soundtrack!

Re: Chickenfoot anyone?

Just got an email that the Pittsburgh show has been canceled. Nothing in the news section yet, but they've canceled a few shows in Europe due to an old injury of Chad's that's apparently giving him problems. None of the other shows have been cancelled (yet).

Re: Chickenfoot anyone?

Caught them last night here in Houston. Wow, what a geat show. They looked like they were having an absolute ball playing together. Chad Smith...that guy is a monster, he was born to be a pure rock drummer.

We think he might have hurt himself during the final song of the encore.
Spoiler:
They were playing a song by The Who and he kicked over his drum set Keith Moon style and it looked like he tripped over it. He headed straight backstage while Sam, Satch and Mike stayed out and tossed picks and kicked the drum set around a bit

Opener Davey Knowles and Backdoor Slam were pretty f'n great. The guy can wail with his voice and guitar. If you like heavy blues based rock, grab one of his CD's.

Best Buy Exclusive with DVD coming out 11/01/09. I knew it would pay for me to hold off buying it.

Nice. I might bite on that since I got the mp3s so cheap on Amazon.

I hate this trend of adding extra material to albums months after the original release penalizing the true fans who supports bands from the start

Damn! I'll re-buy this no question, but that is an awfully short window to to a re-release.

would help if the extra song was a free download for the people who already have the CD.
