Doves - Kingdom of Rust

New Album coming out April..

I wasn't able to get the song from the doves webpage, but it's playing here

http://www.yourfilehost.com/media.ph...=jetstream.mp3

Thankfully though the record we've been slaving over is finally ready for the floor. It' called "Kingdom of Rust" and it's released by our friends at the Heavenly Recordings label on (April 6th). The title track is out as a single the week before (March 30th). The tracklisting for the record is:

"Jetstream" / "Kingdom Of Rust" / "The Outsiders" /
"Winter Hill" / "10.03" / "The Greatest Denier" /
"Birds Flew Backwards" / "Spellbound" /
"Compulsion" / "House Of Mirrors" / "Lifelines"

Our new site is up and running (http://www.doves.net )
- you can get a free download of album opener
"Jetstream" by joining the mailing list. There's a nice little map that shows where the track is getting downloaded from, so tell your mates in far off places to get on it * we'll buy the person in the furthest flung place a pint * honest.

Good to hear. "Some Cities" was a bit of a let down, but I still hold "The Last Broadcast" & "Lost Souls" as two of my favorites of the last decade.

I stumbled across the announcement earlier this morning and it made my day. Doves are the closest thing I have to a favorite band.

Re: Doves - Kingdom of Rust

wow. I loved Some Cities, it was also the first tour that I saw them on live.

The new song I think is fantastic. I can't wait to hear the full album, and will really look forward to seeing them live again. They are touring the US of A.

Cool! I saw them a number of years ago but it was at a festival and each band could only play for 30 minutes!

Re: Doves - Kingdom of Rust

If I can make time, I'm going to have to get to that show at The Vic. I was supposed to go to their show there during the Some Cities tour and came down with a mean case of the flu the day of the show. I saw them at the Austin City Limits Festival a couple years back and think it'd be awesome to see them at a smaller venue.

Somewhat unrelated, but I saw The Veils' new album comes out on 4/6 as well, so I'll be getting new music from two of my three favorite UK bands that day. Sweet.

Re: Doves - Kingdom of Rust

I hope there a couple of songs on the new album similiar to 'The Man Who Told Everything' - one of the few songs where Jimi displays his singing ability to dramatic effect. Didn't care for 'Some Cities'.

I could go to either of these, but I have no idea how they are live.

I love their records, but they seem like the band that might not be very strong live.

They were fucking awesome when I saw them in Austin and their live DVD is fantastic. Unless something's changed dramatically, I wouldn't worry about being let down.

As will I apparently. Thanks for the notice regarding The Veils. I wasn't aware they also had a new one coming out.

Re: Doves - Kingdom of Rust

heard the single this morning on Radio 1, can't say it wowed me, musically it's good, but Jimi's voice warbles and sounds like he's swallowed a cup of marbles.

^ I'm moody

got an email today from Amazon that Astralwerks has dropped the double CD/DVD combo release. Looks like you'll have to go the import route if you want the video portion. CDWow has it for $17.49

That review makes it sound like "The Last Broadcast" pt.2. Which is a win for me.

Re: Doves - Kingdom of Rust

I got to hear an advance copy that a radio station friend had over the weekend, and thought it was decent. Nothing particularly mind blowing, but at least consistent with what they've done before. I'll still be buying it when it hits stores.

Re: Doves - Kingdom of Rust

Listened to about half of this tonight before turning it off; nothing very interesting about it. The songs just seem to exist without having any real purpose, if that makes any sense. I loved Lost Souls and the bonus disc that came with Broadcast, but little else from them has 'clicked' for me.

The new Veils album -- which I'm glad someone here mentioned! -- on the other hand is quite good.

Actually what I was thinking when I listened to it. Although some people might say that its redundant, I still think it sounds good. My fav track is "Compulsion"
