This doesn't have to with a death, but my buddies John, Mike, and I spent our senior year of high school listening to a New Edition album virtually every day, making plans on how we were going do some world shaking together after graduation. DeBarge's Rhythm of the Night too. Unfortunately, things changed and we went our separate ways. We're still in touch, and I see Mike a couple of times a year, but I can't listen to those songs without feeling real pangs of sadness about what might've been.

Couple come to mind.
'Restless' - Gordon Lightfoot, my dad.
'The Song Is Over' and 'Getting In Tune' - The Who, a girl I knew who killed herself. When I hear those songs I can still remember driving through early morning fog on Lookout Mountain, on the way to her funeral as a teenager. I was listening to 'Who's Next' on cassette driving up.

Rilo Kiley's "Hail to Whatever You Found in the Sunlight that Surrounds You" makes me think of my mother, who passed away from cancer on February 8th, 2006.
