I don't post here a lot --lurking mostly.

But, I wanted to thank joeblow and Mordred for introducing me to Kadavar and Witchcraft, respectively. Good bands; albums ordered!

Agreed, their genre defying tendencies make them even more appealing to me. Having said that, live they were pretty darn heavy, especially for a two member band.

I love, love, love this album.

They borrow generously and blatantly from Bon Scott AC/DC and do it brilliantly. If you like Bon's era, you have to try this.

For something completely different, how about an all female, visual kei power metal band from Japan?

Take a look.

I really like Black Breath's last album and that has caused me to delve into Entombed's back catalog, a band that heavily influenced Black Breath. Such fucking good music. Their early stuff is just nasty and Morning Star is one of the best metal albums I've heard.

Any other suggestions for this type of metal? I guess I'd call it Scandinavian thrash.

It's not Scandinavian thrash. It's Swedish death metal. And there are whole books written about it.

If you like that sound ... Other bands to try ... Carnage, Dismember, Unleashed, Desultory, Comecon, Grave. I left Arch Enemy and At The Gates off as they have a slightly different sound.

This should keep you busy - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...th_metal_bands

If you just want more Entombed Worship just listen to Entrails (also from Sweden):

I can't wait for new Carcass either, that song sounds great.

I've been rocking the new Misery Signals, their best effort yet (IMO)-angry, technical and pissed.

Awesome! The San Francisco show is on a day I don't have classes.

I missed Kreator & Overkill the last time both of them were out on their respective tours, so I'm looking forward to this.

Warbringer is pretty awesome too.

Agalloch going on a short tour of California with Worm Ouroboros this Fall:

9/14 Oakland, CA @ Metro (+ Lycus)
9/15 Los Angeles, CA @ Echoplex (+ Helen Money)
9/16 San Luis Obispo, CA @ SLO Brew (+ Bloodmoon)
9/17 Santa Cruz, CA @ Catalyst Atrium (+ Gloam)

Bought my ticket for the Oakland show last night. The lineup is too good.

Screw all that new stuff. The new Carcass album (Surgical Steel) has leaked and it's magnificent. First album since 1996 and it's like they've never been away. Fits right into that Necroticism/Heartwork mold.

Really enjoying the new Dan Swano project, Witherscape:

This should hit the spot for anyone who like Opeth.

Barely any mention of it, but I think Soilwork's latest double release is probably my favorite of theirs. It's got everything I want from them. I had the chance to see their set at ProgPower the night before we played, and I think that finally "flipped the switch" for me to really absorb the new record.

These two are particular favorites:
