What are you listening to? (8/25-8/31)

A long long time ago, we had this type of thread where we posted what folk were listening to, with Ipods/MP3 now, where it's more of a song to song basis, this thread really reflected listening to an entire album, songs, a concert/performance on the web, an album from your personal collection you might not have listened to in a long time... etc. etc.

well, let's see what happens

- Lemon Jelly '64-'95 (DTS 5.1 soundmix)
- Simian Mobile Disco (FabricLive 41)

Tuesday:

- SMD [finished]
- Apples in Stereo: New Magnetic Wonder [tracks 1-7]

Wednesday

- Digitalism: Kitsuné Tabloid (mix CD)

Saturday
[XM: 26]
- Ocean Blue: Cerulean
- New Pornagraphers: Challenges

Sunday
[RCN digital cable Showtunes]
- Echobelly: Pantyhoses and Roses (live cd)

Lemon Jelly...good choice. I have that one, I will have to "reacquaint" myself with it again.

I have the following:

Marilyn Mason - Mechanical Animals in the car
Slipknot - All Hope Is Gone on my laptop
Clutch - Beale Street To Oblivion on my iPod with a few others, but that is the main one

And this one is streaming from the NPR website, but Tom Waits had a concert that they played about two weeks ago, that I am also listening to.

Just plowing through all my Type O Negative discs in the car to and from work.

Iron Maiden on my iPhone during the day.

I just picked up the new Slipknot so we'll see what that's like tomorrow probably.

I only listen to music in my car. I don't do Mp3's because I haven't bought a player yet; and by the time I decide which player to buy the world will have switched to a new format.

Currently in my car's CD player:

RUSH: Snakes and Arrows Live discs 1 and 2.

I swear, I can't get enough of this album.

Seventh Son, followed by Somewhere In Time.

Powerslave up next - doing kind of a backwards thing.

I've had the same "Favorite Album of 2008" since January, (Drive-by Truckers), until recently.

I've been playing endlessly my new fav album of the year. . .

I actually just picked up both your choices (Gaslight Anthem, too) today, along with...

The Verve - Fourth

...and...

Tesla - Gold

...although I haven't even had a chance to listen to any of them yet, because I'm still grooving to last weeks release of...

The Stills - Oceans Will Rise

...and for some reason, also decided to dig out...

Lenny Kravitz - Are You Gonna Go My Way

I did, however, get the Matthew Sweet on vinyl, though, because it came with four extra songs and a CD copy of the album, too. Plus, it cost the same price as just the CD anyway.

Sweet...Powerslave is my favorite.

Also to anyone who does know, what do The Stills sound like? I like the cover and I nearly bought it blind.

I rotate through a lot of albums during a week, between listening while on the computer, driving to work and on the MP3 player during lunch breaks... Right now, I'm especially hooked on these three recent electronic discs:

Jonas Bering - Behind the Silence ("I Can't Stop Loving You")
Akiko Kiyama - 7 Years ("Ant")
Byetone - Death of a Typographer ("Plastic Star")

I didn't realize Matthew Sweet had a new one; is this along the lines of his '90s work or the mellower stuff he's been up to over the past few years?

I checked this out after seeing your post and it's very solid. Coming from someone who avoids most alt- and indie rock these days, that's strong praise! Thanks for mentioning the album.
