No but people tend to recognize the things that the person did during their own lifetime more than other things. |

I'll always love his cover of Don't Let Me Be Lonely Tonight.

What's that? You weren't alive in 1945? |
when i first come upon the greatness that was isaac hayes i wasn't aware he was a singer - i was 12 and my dad took me to see Escape From New York - he was the duke of new york - A number 1 - and i recognized him as gandalf from the rockford files a few years earlier - i quickly got up to speed on who he was - some great music from the man for four plus decades, and one of my favorites was a cover of Summer in the City from 1995's Branded - genius in taking one of the most tense songs in pop history and amping the tension even higher with some spooky guitar and a delivery which could almost make you believe it was his song to begin with. i've always appreciated, admited and enjoyed his work on south park, but hopefully when the tributes start pouring in over the next few days, they remember that this guy was responsible for some of the best R&B, soul and funk ever comitted to vinyl.

I don't see the big deal and what would be so bad that a lot of people recognize Isaac as the voice of Chef. South Park introduced him to an entire generation that would've never known him for anything else than "Shaft". There are a lot of more shameful things that celebrities are known for when they die than a long-running cult TV series. |
