Forgotten or Lesser Known 70's Rock Bands...

This is another topic that came up in another thread, and I thought it deserved its own thread.

Forgotten, or lesser known, 70's Rock Bands.

Like these....

Gotta love the 70's!

There was a band from the 70's called Rex that I've never heard, but read about. Pretty obscure stuff (Rex Smith was the lead singer, and he became a total Pop guy a couple years later).

If you ever want to try out Starz get the remastered cd of Violation. I have a few others from them but they don't compare to Violation.
As for Angel On Earth As it is in Heaven was good and Live Without A Net was ok also.
I used to have these on 8- track back in the day.
Everyone remembers 8-track right?
Another 70's band that was pretty good was Detective. They had a great debut album by the same name. I don't have a video for you of them and yes, I also had their 8 track when they first released it.

I also have the remastered Violation and Joe is right. It is awesome!
I was never into Angel too much.I once had one of their albums (White Hot or something like that)and didn't really think too much of it.
Do any of you older guys remember when there was a rumour that Angel was actually Kiss without make-up?
Pretty stupid looking back at that now.
I'll add a few:
-Black Oak Arkansas
-Teaze
-Suzi Quatro

Here's one of my fave Cdn bands,Goddo:

My uncle has seen Angel a bunch of times and I think he is friends with the band.

I vote for Focus...remember those guys.

Also extra points to Geofferson for mentioning Wishbone Ash!

Actually, though, I do appreciate it since it saves me the time to look them up on youtube for some that I am interested in checking out.

I agree. It's fun to see these old bands again. Espescially the bands that I have forgotten about over the years.
Mahogany Rush was cool also, as rw listed. Frank Marino thought he was the re- incarnation of Hendrix

Anybody else remember The Buoys ? Had a hit around '71 or so called "Timothy". About a some miners trapped in a mine. They eat their mule(Timothy) to stay alive. There was some controversy at the time that Timothy was one of the trapped miners and the song was about cannibalism.

Rupert Holmes wrote "Timothy," and later went on to have a solo hit with "Escape (The Pina Colada Song)" in the late '70s. He also claimed he wrote "Timothy" in hopes it would get banned. The record company made up the story about it being a mule; it is about cannabilism.

Here is a classic clip of The Sensational Alex Harvey Band.
Check out the very underated guitar playing of Zal Cleminson.
