REO Speedwagon remasters.

A foreign company is remastering the early album releases of REO in double cd sets. One set has their first two albums REO Speedwagon/ R.E.O. II is one set and Lost in a Dream/ Riding the Storm out is the other set.
I bought the first set RE0/R.E.O. II earlier and it is excellent.
This is not the REO that made those crappy Top 40 love songs like Keep on Loving You. This one really rocks. When REO started out they were a good hard rockin' band. Until the mid-80's when they sold out and started making love songs for 13 year old girls. There are songs like Golden Country, Music Man, Flash Tan Queen, Sophistacated Lady, 157 Riverside Avenue, etc.
The first set is really great. The second set is ok but not as good as the first one. The early REO is like night and day from their later mid-80's releases.

"Keep On Loving You" is not crap. I personally hate the sound of Kevin Cronin's voice, but that song was good. I know a lot of people who hate REO but like that song. Now "Can't Fight This Feeling" on the other hand....

I always enjoyed the pre-hits version of REO . . . and Golden Country is a classic!

My favorite REO song is "Back on the Road Again". I could use a remaster that one. That song cooks.

Yes, you're right, that is a great song. That was their last good cd in my opinion- Nine Lives. After that they started to tank.

well, to me, Keep On Loving You has a bit more "power" and bite to it. Plus, Kevin's voice is far more nasally and grating on Can't Fight This Feeling. To me, it's like the difference about why "Against All Odds" was such a great Phil Collins ballad, but something like "You'll Be In My Heart" wasn't. It was just an all-around superior song IMO.
