I was reading an article about Yaz in a recent issue of Blender and decided to sample some of their music on itunes. Well "Only You" is listed as the most popular song. I listened to it and recognized it from a movie but I can't think of which one. I would imagine it's a romantic comedy and I believe it is their version. I listened to a couple of other covers of the song and they didn't sound like it.

Anyway, does anyone happen to know what movie this song was in? It seems like a movie I had just watched recently.

The first time the song Only You was used in an American film was in 1988 in the totally underrated movie The Chocolate War. The movie and the accompanying soundtrack are both really great. I can't recommend seeing this movie enough.

I'll have to check this movie out on imdb.com and see what it says. You know, now that I think about it, I don't think the movie I'm thinking of was Can't Hardly Wait. I have no idea. wikipedia mentioned some movies that it was in but they weren't it either.

Agreed. I first heard of, and became interested in, Yaz because of The Chocolate War. Odd, but oddly effective, soundtrack for that film. I still think "In My Room" is Yaz's best tune.

having been a teenager in the 80s...and around the same age as the kids in that show...I got a big kick out of how they acted like Yaz was a big band among teen girls....It was not near San Francisco where I grew up. (though I guess anything is possible)

Kind of surprised "Only You" is listed as their most popular. Don't get me wrong, I love the song. But I would have thought "Don't Go" or "Situation" would have been bigger for some odd reason. Truly love this band. "Upstairs at Eric's" remains my favorite album cover of all-time. And the album is also a favorite of mine too. I'm so glad I had a chance to see them on their limited reunion tour. Twice!
