Coming up

Good year, indeed. I love the 80s!!

I would like to thank the record industry slump for putting more artists on the road!

So far this year:

Spoon

Coming Up:
Wilco x 2
Pearl Jam x 2
Radiohead
My Morning Jacket

Unfortunately, I missed drive-by truckers, stephen malkmus, and tegan and sara. Oh well, can't go to every show.

The Swell Season - saw them last night, a really good time with some solid musicians, and a lot of heartfelt songs in the mix. I have no idea how Glen Hansard, with only his voice and his guitar can make my forehead sweat from his performance when he gets into his zone. That was an odd experience, but impressive too.

Next up: Rush in July.

Add Peter Murphy to the list. Just found out he is doing a "retrospective" tour, which means he should be playing the good shit.

Also having a great year.

Already saw

They Might Be Giants
Jesse Malin (admittedly, not a very good showing)
Stuart Davis
Bruce Springsteen
The New Pornographers (Minus Dan and Niko, but DAMN Kathryn filled Niko's role)

And I'm hours away from seeing Josh Ritter.

I was unable to see their recent performance in St. Louis, but I heard it was awesome and that it felt like a VH1 Storyteller's episode.

I just finished my concert-going for the year over the past weekend. I finally saw Wilco for the first time after all of these years, and I was able to do so two night's in a row. Friday night's show started off better than Saturday's, but the latter show ended on a higher note. 26 song set-list on Friday night, only to be topped by 31 song set-list the following night. The best shows I have ever seen. I am still on a natural high from 'em. I woke up yesterday morning in a great mood and it hasn't gone away.

I saw and enjoyed the hell out of these shows this spring (all were at The Pageant):

Built to Spill
Explosions in the Sky
The New Pornographers w/ Okkervill River (best opener I can recall seeing in a long time)
Wilco (x2)

My concert funds are spent and most likely done for the year.

I was at the Friday show and it was phenomenal. Glad you finally "found" Wilco - they're tough to beat. You should drive over to Indy for the August show.

Anyone else who has Wilco coming to town, GO!

Haven't seen too much so far this year... but coming up:
Tom Waits in St Louis in June
Stone Temple Pilots in Indiana in August
and Nine Inch Nails in Lexington in August

Hopefully some more will pop up close by soon, as my hometown mainly
has crap like American Idol and Country.

I didn't just "find" them - I've been listening to them since A.M. came out. I just had shitty luck/timing when it came to seeing them live.

I thought about the Indy show.
