the JOY you experienced upon hearing a song for the FIRST time...
Sometimes I think I lived in an isolated bubble, and realize I've missed a lot in the music world, but friends 'n neighbors, sometimes that bubble...well, it will burst.
And upon bursting, I experience such joy in "discovering" songs I've never heard before.
Naturally, not every new song I hear is a joy. Sometimes they are, in fact, pure rubbish. But I experienced "joy" upon hearing All Together Now by The Beatles for the first time last year. Same can be said for Hey Bulldog (from the same album - Yellow Submarine).
I experienced joy in the following "discoveries":
Swing Swing by All American Rejects
Dance Dance by Fall Out Boy
What song that had previously gone above your radar did you discover, and felt pure, unadulterated joy over?

The Pursuit Of Happiness - Pressing Lips
I picked up their The Downward Road cd in '94, and for some reason it just never clicked with me at the time. It sat largely unlistened to for a couple of years when, in a moment of experimental boredom, I properly rediscovered its majesty.
And on it was Pressing Lips.
An all-around perfect, hook-filled pop tune...

I don't usually experience joy on the first listen. I'd say that 99% of my favorite songs were ones that grew on me only after multiple listens. I'm experienced enough now to know that if I like a song immediately, it means that I probably won't like it in a week or two...but if I don't like a song on first listen, that I'll probably end up loving it down the road. Weird, I know.
