Stone Temple Pilots plotting extensive tour

Got this this morning- anyone know anything about Matt Sorum/Scott Weiland's feud?? (I'm not surprised- I think Weiland's a jerkoff:

Stone Temple Pilots plotting extensive tour

By Mitchell Peters
Tue Apr 1, 5:45 AM ET
The recently reunited Stone Temple Pilots will next week announce plans for a summer tour of more than 50 amphitheaters,
sources said.
The L.A. rock group has already confirmed a handful of festival dates, beginning with the Rock on the Range festival in
Columbus, Ohio, on May 17-18.
Further details about STP's tour will be announced during an April 7 news conference at the Harry Houdini Estate in Los
Angeles. It is still unclear whether the band will record new material.
Rock on the Range will be Stone Temple Pilots' first show since 2002, when it played 13 concerts to promote its final album,
2001's "Shangri-La Dee Da."
Singer Scott Weiland went on to co-found Velvet Revolver, which is about to conclude a European tour in support of its second
album. But he and drummer Matt Sorum are engaged in a public feud, casting doubt on the outfit's future.

A week or two ago, somewhere in Europe, Velvet Revolver did a show in which Scott said this would be the last tour they would be doing or something to that effect. A day or two later, Matt posted on his blog that being on "the road," and being away from family was stressing some people in the band out. Scott then responded on his blog, saying that Matt didn't have any idea what he was talking about, since Matt was never married or had a family of his own.

I don't know if anything else has happened after that or not.

They're playing at the Tweeter Center in Mansfield, MA on June 1st. Part of the WBCN River Rave, with Filter, Everlast and more.

Decent enough show when I saw them several years back. Weiland is an odd duck, but the band sounded pretty good.

Saw them dressed as Kiss at Roseland NYC and another show opening up for Megadeth.
I will not see this show.

I love Stone Temple Pilots. I saw them open for Aerosmith several years ago. I also saw Velvet Revolver and Army of Anyone. All were great shows, and I will drive to the nearst city to Nashville that they play (no more amphitheater in Nashville, cause some douche wanted to level it and build some more condos to sit and rot).

I just read on VR's site that Weiland and VR are officially done:

04.01.08
Velvet Revolver To Part Ways With Singer
Velvet Revolver founding members Slash, Duff McKagan, Matt Sorum and Dave Kushner announced today that they are parting ways with singer Scott Weiland. "This band is all about its fans and its music and Scott Weiland isn't 100% committed to either, said Slash. "Among other things, his increasingly erratic on-stage behavior and personal problems have forced us to move on."

Would love to see them again.

I'm kinda surprised that there are no NYC/LI dates scheduled. Closest is PNC, but I can't make it that day.

The use of the word "plotting" in this thread title makes it sound sinister!

Saw them in Chicago last month, they were nearly in top form. I hope Scott Weiland makes it all the way through!

I just passed on free tickets to see them this last weekend. I love STP and think they are an awesome band, but they aren't the same guys they used to be. If this was ten years ago I would have gave my right nut to see them, but now..eh..screw them. They will go on tour, probably make an album, break up and then Scott will shoot up. It's not worth it to be a fan of theirs anymore.

I was there. It would have been worth coming at the last minute just for their set. Good show!

What kind of setlist did they do and how long? I'm seeing STP with Linkin Park in July, just curious.

Saw them on Saturday, awesome show (although they took the stage about 30-40 minutes late)... great setlist too. Just a rocking, kick ass show...and Weiland didn't disappoint in the weird department either, spouting off some nonsense lines in between songs etc.
