Ah, I think I misread your first post. Sorry. Wonder how much different that first attempt really was?

It took a bunch of spins to get used to, but I really like this CD. Couldn't agree more that they're hardly recognizable as the same band as the last CD, but I like them both a lot.

I think this one will wear on me better. The forced lyrics of the last album sometime are just too much to take for 5 or 6 songs in a row, but this album flows really well. But I also agree that the teen crowd expecting A Fever You Can't Sweat Out, part two, might take a dump all over this.

Looks like the album debuted at #2 with ~140k copies sold.

This album is so much better than the first one Panic put out. There were only 2 or 3 songs off of Fever that even stood out as good songs. This is one of the first albums of the year that I can play all the way through and not skip past songs. I'm really happy that this band grew beyond the first album and had the guts to do something like this. I bet that their are some pretty pissed off emo kids out there after hearing this.

Has anyone seen them live on their current honda civic tour? I am wondering how they sound and about the opening acts.

I've seen Panic before, but it was a few years ago right after their first album came out. To be perfectly blunt, they were pretty terrible (dude can't really sing for crap and they had very little stage presence). Maybe they've gotten better since then, but I know they've incorporated more theatrics into their show so it's more of a production. I know that last time I saw them on TV, the guy still hadn't gotten better at singing.

I really liked Motion City Soundtrack when their first album came out, but I haven't really liked anything they've done since. But I've seen them live a couple of times and they put on a really solid show.

The Hush Sound put out an album the same day as Pretty. Odd. (and IMO it's a far superior album). I'd have to describe them as piano-driven indie pop. Haven't had the chance to see them live yet.

I don't really know anything about Phantom Planet though (other than Jason Scwartzman used to play drums with them and their song "California" was the theme song for The OC).

Well.. I just got both CDs..

I've been listening to PATD since before they became famous. I loved their first album... but the second one in my opinion is better.

Well... correction. maybe not better.. but, I've listened to every one of its songs while on the first CD i'll skip one or two to get to a different one.

On the first CD its like all the songs seem to be the same, I love them, they are different but sometimes... well if you've heard Pretty. Odd. then you know how different it is.

Pretty. Odd. is really pretty odd. It's different. Not complete opposite of Fever but... Fever gets old after a while... as will Odd I'm sure..

both are CDs that I've listened to and would continue to listen to even after I get sick of them.
I really enjoy PATD.

Urie is pretty talented as far as vocals for the first CD.. I like how they got more of them to sing on Odd. It was a nice change.
SIDENOTE: PATDs "This is halloween" is amazing. Can't be compared to MM's version. Elfmans is best obviously but... Cant compare MM's because they're totally different genre even though they are the same song.
But Urie seems to DO something with his voice that is just.. interesting.

He has a nice natural voice I believe. and I like Ryans too.. its interesting. I didn't know he had a voice.

Anyways, I'm just spouting my opinions... as if they matter.
But that's all I've got to say for now.

I'm off like a dirty shirt.

I watched them perform 9 in the Afternoon on SNL over the weekend and it wasn't that great. I would hope that seeing them live would be better than what they did on SNL.
