Silversun Pickups

My friend told me about them last year when they came on his Sirius/XM radio. I liked the song, but wasn't floored by it. Well, as these things tend to happen I heard it a few more times here and there and now I can't get enough. The song I'm talking about is "Lazy Eye":

I know I'm about two years behind the times on this, but what does everyone think of them? How is Carnavas?

Meh, they should rename their band "We Wish We Were My Bloody Valentine".

hah they don't sound like My Bloody Valentine at all, but whatever.
The previous EP was good also that had Kissing Families on it. I think there has been a previous thread on them though. They are a solid band and I've seen them live twice, it's just kinda nice and fresh to hear a pretty straightforward rock band, and I'm looking forward to their second release.

I did search and found a SSP/OK Go live show review. That's about it.

ah yeah you are correct, I just assumed they were good enough that have their own thread, and now they do.

"Lazy Eye" is good, really good, but I think I like "Well Thought Out Twinkles" off of Carnivas a bit better.

Yeah they sound way more like Smashing Pumpkins than MBV.

Carnavas is a solid album, if a bit of '90s throwback. I would most definitley rather listen to these guys than the crap Corgan is churning out these days.

I saw them live supporting Nine Black Alps, and new then that they were excellent. Love Carnavas.

Re: Silversun Pickups

They put on such a good live show. Everyone should see them if I have a chance. I'd be seeing them at the Glasshouse in a couple of weeks but I got Black Keys tickets instead.

Re: Silversun Pickups

I loved "Lazy Eye" after playing it a gazillion times on ROCK BAND. Heard a couple of other tunes on Fuse, dug them quite a bit. Maybe I'll have to download some of their other songs later (LEGALLY Lars, LEGALLY!!) and give them a spin.

Re: Silversun Pickups

Caranvas was a solid effort, but I think their dedication to replicating a '90s sound, particularly that of Smashing Pumpkins, did hold them back a bit.

I'd be very interested to hear the new album.

I'm kicking myself for missing them at a music festival in Seattle last yr (or perhaps it was the yr before...) Probably won't see them on that small a stage again...
