...cause it feels so EMPTY without him...

By "Him," I mean Em. Where, oh where has he gone to?

Look, I am by no means a rap or hip-hop fan, but you gotta admit this kid had some flair. I mean, Marshall Mathers the Third becomes a superstar doing what others have done before - except this time, he makes it sound fresh. He has a sense of humor about it, he entertains you with stories, he's honest...and, I guess to a lesser degree, he was white, to boot. The kid can rap without batting an eye - but he goes beyond that. He has hit singles, too - he's wise enough to have jaunty, fun singles for the radio ("My Name Is," "The Real Slim Shady," "Without Me," and "Superman") while having brooding, serious songs for the main content of his albums - to save face with his audience. Wise? Did I say wise? I meant to say Genius because, without those carefree radio singles, he probably never would have been able to branch out beyond his target audience.

The success this maniac, with his gun frailing about, hitting this one, bopping that one (no bullets, got probation) had is incredible! He makes one hit record after another, crosses boundaries by charting his singles on the Billboard Top 5! That's not enough for him, so he makes a movie. 8 Mile is not regarded as a failure! Holy makerel, he's actually getting respect from Hollywood!! He earns an Academy Award for Best Original Song ("Lose Yourself") - how do you like that? And the same song goes all the way to Number One on the Billboard Hot 100 chart! Imagine - having a No.1 single in America for not one, not two, but three whole months! Outstanding.

Eminem is wise enough, I guess, to quit the movie business while he's ahead, but continues to release albums like crabgrass growing in my backyard...all successes...

Until finally...Curtain Call: The Hits compilation. We're treated to the very funny Fack song (which wasn't released as a single, sadly) - to add to his short list of great novelty songs, and the apparent haitus of Slim Shady.

It has been three years now since we've heard from him. What's he doing? Did he stop consciously, saying "gee, I'm at the top of my game, maybe there's no place to go but down, so I'll step out for a while, enjoy my family and my money, and chill..." That would be my best guess, but now I hear that he is making a brand new album - something titled King Mathers.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King_Mathers

We'll see, we'll see...

I've been a big Eminem fan since he came out. I'm glad there's been a pause between releases though because I felt Encore was his weakest cd overall. There was some good stuff there but too much filler and repetition.

I like your thread title too. I hated Fack. One of the worst songs I've heard in years and not funny at all to me anyway. I hope he comes back with another amazing album, but you just never know with a volatile artist like E.

Who knew that Eminem and Huey Lewis' fanbases crossed over so well?

"Lose Yourself" & "Without Me" are the only things I've enjoyed from him. I really think he's highly overrated (and I'm from his Detroit neighborhood originally).

He burnt himself out.

Honestly, by the time he released "Just Lose It," he was running on fumes. The entire song revolves around Michael Jackson molesting kids and Pee-Wee Herman...

He's probably going to just keep producing and occasionally being featured on other people's songs. That's where the real money is anyhow.

I liked a good chunk of his songs when they came out, and then ended up skipping over them as time went on. The guy had talent, as well as a good amount of humor, which I felt was needed.

Whichever song had him going on about what people expected of him was great, although I can't think of the title off the top of my head.

What I Am is the song you're thinking of. Love Eminem. Hope his next album is better than Encore.

I think he just ran out of names to call himself and, hence, album titles from his real name (Marshall Mathers or M&M) and his stage names Eminem and Slim Shady. And he's already used Slim Shady (The Slim Shady LP), Marshall Mathers (The Marshall Mathers LP), and Eminem (The Eminem Show) as album titles so unless he comes up with a new stage name for himself, he's completely out of names to use as title for albums.

I don't miss him at all. I find him really annoying. Then again, I'm a juggalo.

Loved his first three albums. I agree with 'Fack' being one of his worst songs.

He's still got something left in the tank (see "No Apologies" from The Re-Up), and I'll look forward to King Mathers, as long as he reverts to old form.

DAMN! I wouldn't admit that to anyone! I'm not one, by the way. Faygo's for drinking, not for bathing. And whiteface makeup is for KISS.

I like Eminem. His albums seemed to have gotten progressively worse but I will always check out his stuff.

I wish MC Paul Barman was the awkward but talented white rapper who rose to fame. Sigh.
