Best song by The Doors
I had to do it after the Zeppelin thread.
I'll post my favorite here soon I have to think about it some.
There are quite a few songs on my poll that are typical favorites that I wouldn't have included in my list of very favorites - in fact, probably about 50% of that list.
I don't think I'd include Light My Fire, Break On Through, Riders on the Storm, Hello, I Love You, and LA Woman.
I would include Been Down So Long, The Changling, Maggie McGill, My Eyes Have Seen You, The Soft Parade, Spanish Caravan, and Twentieth Century Fox. I realize these aren't typical The Doors favorites.
I forgot to include "Other" as a poll choice. Sorry about that.
If I had to pick one song by The Doors, it would be My Eyes Have Seen You. Fucking fantastic. As so many of their songs are.

Sorry, but I'd have to go off the list and vote for Love Street, Love Her Madly or When the Music's Over. Honestly, it is extremely hard for me to pick one song because their songs affect me in different ways depending on my mood.

Crystal Ship! That song gives me chills. It has such a strange feeling to it. Five to One is a close second. Lot of good stuff to choose from though. Very tough.

-H'yacinth House
-Take It As It Comes
-Celebration Of The Lizard
-Love Hides
-Queen Of The Highway
-Land Ho!
-Hello I Love You
-Love Her Madly

Seriously? Light My Fire is their one true classic, the song that will stand as their legacy and it gets three lousy votes? Don't get me wrong, Riders On The Storm is a good song, but it's not the time-proven classic that "Fire" is.
I wonder if much of the fondness over "The End" is more about its use in Apocalypse Now rather than the song itself. I find that song slow, uninteresting and not at all melodic.
