Devil Wouldn't Recognize You is easily my favourite track right now... a pretty decent album, very mainstream pop but decent.

I've only given it a quick listen while driving around running errands, but I've gotta say I'm wildly unimpressed. [Though given what I've read about it and it being another Timaland/Timberlake circle jerk, I'm not terribly surprised.] A few tracks stood out from the pack - 'She's Not Me' and 'Miles Away' in particular - but moreso because they were better than what's around them than because they're great Madonna tracks.

That said, it's a hell of a lot better than "American Life", so at least it's not the worst Madonna album ever - just the second least enjoyable.

I was enjoying the CD but then I got to Devil Wouldn't Recognize you and suddenly I forgot all the rest of the tracks because I love that one so much. I need help, been repeating it for the last 3 hours now. I cannot stop it's fantastic.

My thoughts exactly. The only reason I got this is because I've got every other Madonna album, so I might as well keep the streak going. The album's more or less fine when Madonna's on, but whenever one of the guests starts rapping/singing/whatever it grounds to a halt. As people have said, it's like she's a guest artist on half her own songs.

Ugh! I couldn't agree more. I just want Pharelle to shut up!

I LOVE She's Not Me (even more now that I know Wendy Melvoin is on guitar) and Miles Away. Devil Wouldn't Recognize You is great but it sounds way too similar to Justin's Cry Me A River.

Definitely one of my fave CD's right now and I have already played it more than Janet and Mariah combined.

Give It 2 Me and She's Not Me are songs you can play for me anytime. Very good stuff. The rest of the album is just like every other Madonna album. Some songs that make decent singles with the rest being a bit pedestrian.

Well I have listen to Cd once so far and all the remixes of 4 Mintues-(they are some of the weakest mixes ever!!).

I like it a little not lot Madonna has let her HardCore fans down big-time I would grade it as C+.

And as for those saying that this is better that American Life is crazy that one is miles better than this snoze-fest--(3 track out 12 does not make for great music).

The album is good enough. The worst thing about it is the singing rappers who won't shut the fuck up and the embarrassing breakdowns in a couple of songs. Someone on a blog created mixes of the songs they "sing" on and removed them altogether. Also, the production on the vocals is horrible. They intentionally made them that way as a nod to her debut but I think it was a huge mistake. For someone who's voice gets more and more bad as time passes, it's a stupid move to over-process them to sound so flat and metallic.

She should have removed the awful Spanish Lessons and put Ring My Bell in its place.

Best songs:
Heartbeat
Miles Away
Dance 2night
She's Not Me
Beat Goes On

All in all, it's the better of the three albums from her, Mariah and Janet.

I like the album, especially the 4 minutes song (the original and the remixes). I thought the best song was the 4 min. initially, then, Candy Shop took its place. I think the song with Kanye West is alright, nothing special...maybe its because I'm not quite a fan of his (although on a different note, I do really like collaboration on the song with Estelle "American Boy"). All in all, I think Hard Candy is another good album. I would've liked to had it continous though, along the lines of "Confessions".

I bought the CD. Am I the only one hearing a lot of distortion throughout this CD to the point beyond unlistenability? It sounds like this album was recorded way too hot. I've listened to it using two different sources.

Hey cranberries fan, did you take what I said personally or what? <G> I said "I thought, I think" meaning its MY OPINION. I have my opinion and you've yours, everyone has theirs. So what.... LOL AND I still stand by what I said, I THINK Candy Shop tops 4 Mins. Do you only think Candy Shop isnt so great because she doesnt have Timberlake on it? ;o) PS it sounds as though you're disappointed with the album, so resell it and try to get your money back. Cheers!

No I just saying that this is a very-weak effort on Maddona part and Candy-Shop is one of the weakest songs on the CD.

I have everthing she has put-out from day one (albums, singles, remixes you name I have it).

And I didn't pay for the new CD,but I did listen to the album for second time and I still stay-by what I think about this album.

cranberries fan, what's your fave cranberries album? mine is Bury the hatchet.

back to hard candy, the stronger tracks are growing on me, and the weaker tracks are getting skipped more often.

Confessions had 2 blunders - I Love New York and Push. The rest of the album was amazing and flowed very nicely.

Hard Candy has quite a few weak tracks- Candy Shop (although it is kind of growing on me), 4 Minutes (gotten really old really quickly), Beat Goes On (just OK), Dance2Night, and Spanish Lesson. I got the new Robyn album the same day as "Hard Candy" and have playing that far more than HC. It's unusual because Confessions took over my music-listening life for months.

The Roseland performance was pretty embarrassing for the most part, especially Hung Up. But whatever, im definitely ready for the world tour announcement as Madonna's shows have NEVER dissapointed.

Madonna
-Sticky and Sweet Tour 2008/2009-

Nothing official has been announced yet, but if you go to www.stickyandsweettour.com, you will be redirected to Madonna.com

Many rumoured dates are floating around the net. These are said to be verified as false because some of the venues already have events going on during the supposed dates.

Madonna announced a probable world tour on Ryan Seacrest's radio show last week, stating that she would hit the states around October if the tour happens.

I would expect some more solid info within the next couple days.

Enjoy

I am so excited for the tour! I really hope the rumors of her coming to Houston, Texas are true. If that's the case, I may have to head there! That may be the closest she'll get to the Tulsa, Oklahoma area!

At any rate, great news regarding the album. From the press release issue today:

MADONNA’S HARD CANDY DEBUTS AT #1 AROUND THE WORLD

Album has biggest one week Canadian sales in 2008

For immediate release:

It seems that the entire world has quite an appetite for Madonna’s new album, Hard Candy, with the record debuting at number one in no fewer than 27 countries. In addition to debuting at the top of the chart in Canada and the United States in North America, the album has also entered at number one in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, Germany, Italy, France, Japan, Holland, South Africa, Sweden, Finland and Slovakia, to name just a few.

In Canada, Neilsen SoundScan, the firm that measures actual sales of music in North America, Hard Candy has debuted at #1 with over 57,000 physical and digital albums sold, already making Hard Candy the fourth best selling album in this country in 2008.

Today’s announcement is just the latest in a series of record breaking performances that this record has been making. In April, “4 Minutes,” the first single from Hard Candy, had also debuted at #1 on the Digital Tracks Sales Chart with the highest one week total sales since the establishment of the chart in 2005. This followed the news a week previous that “4 Minutes” had become the first single to debut at #1 on the CHR chart in the history of BDS in Canada.

Hard Candy features Justin Timberlake on multiple tracks and production by Timberlake, Pharrell Williams, Timbaland and Nate “Danja” Hills. “4 Minutes” was co-written by Madonna, Justin Timberlake and Timbaland.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hard Candy debuted at #1 in America, according to HitsDailyDouble.com, with first week sales of 282,785!

Great news, indeed!

More on the upcoming tour, from Billboard.com:

http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/news/..._id=1003800612

Madonna Announces Summer Tour

May 08, 2008, 12:00 AM ET

Ray Waddell
Madonna's upcoming tour will begin Aug. 23 in Cardiff, Wales, and will include between 50-60 shows total, Billboard.com has learned. Details of the tour, produced globally by Live Nation, will be announced later today (May 8).

Billed as the Sticky and Sweet tour, Madonna's trek in support of her current chart-topping Warner Bros. release "Hard Candy" -- which debuted atop the Billboard 200 yesterday -- will play stadiums in the U.K. and Europe until the end of September, arenas and a "handful" of stadiums in 16 markets in North America in October and November, and then stadiums in Mexico and South America late November-December.

"I'm thrilled to be involved in another worldwide Madonna extravaganza," Arthur Fogel, chairman of global music for Live Nation, tells Billboard.com. Fogel has helmed Madonna's last three world tours, which grossed almost $400 million combined. Her 2006 Confessions tour is, at $194 million, the top-grossing tour ever by a female artist.

The upcoming tour is the first major manifestation of the multi-faceted 10-year deal between Madonna and Live Nation, valued in published reports at $120 million.

"The reality is she's delivered her last album to Warner Bros., and it's a smash, which is great for everybody," Fogel says. "We now have a tremendous opportunity with a tremendous artist to do all kinds of new and innovative things on many different levels, and this tour will be the start of that rollout."

The tour follows a familiar Madonna touring blueprint in that it visits a limited number of markets in a four-month time frame, with multi-night stands in major cities. Ticket on-sale details will be announced today, along with a presale through Live Nation's corporate sponsorship partner Citi. Fogel says ticket prices will be "basically the same as they've been the past two tours," which means primarily in the $55-$350 range.

hmmm, I am debating Chicago. I don't have a lot of $$$$ right now, but I have been wanting to see her live since 1985, and she never comes closer to me, and I always say "maybe next tour" each time.

Hell Yeah!

I remember waiting and waiting for the 'Confessions Tour' announcement. This was VERY swift. I'll be hitting East Rutherford, MSG, and back-to-back Philly shows, assuming that additional dates are rolled out.

I'm considering the Houston show...but...

I hadn't listened to Hard Candy until today. Granted it was just the first time around, but I did not really care for it. I liked Confessions enough, but this one seemed to have way too much "Timberland" in it. I'm pretty sure he only produced some of the album, but that type of sound is throughout the record. It's not that it didn't grab me and might on subsequent listens, it's that it turned me off first listen. I'll try it a few more times, but given that her show will likely be heavy on this album, I'll probably just wait for the HBO special.

Finally after 25 years of waiting, Madonna comes to Denver. I will be going and hope to get the best seats possible. This has been a lifetime dream to see her in concert and it is finally coming true. If only I had kept my ICON membership after they went digital.
