Movie/TV Stars who Released Music Albums : Best and Worst
I was just thinking about this.
I actually have a few obscure albums in my collection by movie stars, and they aren't THAT bad.
Do list yours!
My favorites are:
1. Sissy Spacek : "Hangin Up My Heart" (her one and only album, country)
2. Goldie Hawn : "Goldie" (from 1970 I think. Still in print. Its folksy, very Joni Mitchellesque)
3. Katey Segal : "Well" (shes the mom from "Married with Children" - she had only this one album out)
and the BEST is
Milla Jovovich : "The Divine Comedy" - I don't know WHY nobody even mentions this classic anymore. Its literally amongst my top 10 greatest albums of all time, and NO, that is not a joke. If you haven't heard it yet, I urge you to go out and buy a copy pronto. Its unbelievably good - if you're into Tori Amos/Kate Bush sort of music.

Dis chick is not bad. She did a song with Nouvelle Vague that was purty cool.
Dis one ain't too bad either. She's not as gifted musically as the Delpster, but worth a listen or two.

Coconut Records = Jason Schwartzman. Before this he was the drummer for Phantom Planet.

I loved Milla's tracks on Million Dollar Hotel soundtrack. I have Minnie Driver's first album. I wish that Zooey Deschanel would do an album - her voice on that track in Elf was amazing... apparently she did a track on the Winter's Passing soundtrack as well...
Sweet... I'm definately going to have to get that Coconut Band CD now.

As well as performing vocally in several of her films, including Bridge to Terabithia, Elf, Once Upon a Mattress, The New Guy, and Winter Passing, Deschanel has performed live with a number of musicians, including M. Ward and The Citizens Band [5] Her piano composition "Bittersuite" was used thematically in Winter Passing, in which she starred. She has also recorded a version of the song "Hello Dolly" from the musical of the same name. Deschanel recently appeared on a Seattle radio talk show along with M.Ward to promote their upcoming album which is a mixture of country and rock and roll. Milla Jovovich's "Divine Comedy" was the first one I thought of as well.
She made that album back when she was only in her early twenties, when she was still mostly doing modeling with a bit of (unremarkable) acting on the side.
When you hear that a model is going to make an album, you just kind of roll your eyes knowing that it's going to be awful.
Anyway, I had read that Milla was going to be recording an album from a magazine article (this, before the 'net) and sort of knew who she was and filed it away.
I never actually heard her music until they played her video for "The Gentleman Who Fell" on, of all places, Beavis and Butthead. And I was immediately fascinated. Went out and bought the album not long after that, and was really impressed. Great album that holds up well.
