Legendary rock dj and original member of the KNAC family, Tawn Mastrey died at 10:35pm (Central) on Tuesday, October 2 in Minneapolis at the age of 53. She had been suffering from the effects of Hepatitis C which she contracted as a child.

Funeral arrangements are pending and will be announced soon.

Living on the east coast, I never heard her on KNAC. But, for the past few years had enjoyed her on Sirius. It's a shame they weren't able to find a donor in time.

I guess the last night for the Heaven and Hell U.S. tour in Irvine - Dio made a dedication to Tawn.

"But before the band broke into their encore song, "Neon Knights," Dio brought the crowd to their feet when he dedicated the song to Tawn Mastrey, a former DJ for the famed Los Angeles metal radio station of the 80s KNAC who passed away last week."

I remember listenting to Tawn back in the 80's on KNAC.

Best...Radio...Station...EVER!

And Tawn was a great DJ. It was very disappointing that they couldn't find a liver in time to save her life. 53 is awfully young to die. She will be missed.
