As a DJ I can tell you that MIA is 1 of the few artists whose songs I can spin that while most of the crowd doesn't know the tracks, they still get down to them. For whatever reason she has still not cracked the mainstream (aside from "Paper Planes" and maybe "Boyz") but her songs are so catchy it doesn't matter.

Most of the time I have to hold underground songs back for the very beginning or very end of the night but her shit I spin during prime-time and it never clears the dancefloor. Nowadays, aside from the most savvy crowds, everyone wants to hear the shit they hear on the radio all day - they'll walk if you play something they don't hear 347 times a day - but not in her case.

I like Paper Planes, but that's the only song that I really dig from that album.

I had a question. I had always kind of wondered who did the song in the pinapple express trailer. And i happened to have fuse on, and they played 'paper planes' on their alternative countdown show. so i go on youtube to re watch the vid, and waht i was mainly wondering, are the 'gunshot' sound effects during the chorus supposed to cover up swearing, or is that apart of the song? Damn that song is catchy, i might look up one or 2 of her other songs and might pick up the album.

I hate the radio edit of Paper Planes - the different 'less gunshot like' sound (more like a booming) just ruins the song. When did gunshots become something that needed to be censored?

There are days when I think the DFA remix of "Paper Planes" might be better than the original, but they inexplicably cut all the effects in the chorus. Whaaat?

wow, just watched the mtv version of the video. not only do they change the sound effects, to i don't even know what, not only do they change the word weed to seed, but during the chorus where the gun shots are, they don't even show the finger motions of mock gun use (watch the vid posted on the previous page, you'll know what i mean)
