any 'The Frames' fans??
I saw 'Once' this afternoon and quite literally fell in love with the music on the soundtrack... how similiar is to the 'The Frames' sound"?
allmusic states they have ten albums out - three live. Which one should I begin with?

I think I'd start with Setlist to be honest, its a great live recording.
And all over the music is a lot like the soundtrack from once, with just a little more production on the tracks.
It's mostly Glenn's voice though. And they are a blast live.
Falling Slowly from Once is also on The Cost. And you know thats a great track..
I actually only have 3 albums, burn the maps, the cost and setlist.
So I don't know about the others, Fitzcarraldo though is one of my favourite songs, and its on the webpage as a free download here, a live version. Also Santa Maria I really like..

I really think you'll enjoy anything they do if you enjoyed the film/soundtrack.

Also in Itunes there is a cover of 40 by U2 with the Frames singing it.
It's on this album.
Even Better Than The Real Things, Vol. 3 (Today FM Live Recording)
And on
Even Better Than The Real Things, Vol. 1 (Today FM Live Recording)
Glenn does a great cover of Cry Me A River.
The Swell Season which is Glenn and Marketa has most of the tracks from the soundtrack as well.

I love The Frames. I first got into them with Set List and I'm pretty sure I now own all their albums. I'd say you could just about order Set List, For the Birds and Burn the Maps and not regret picking up all 3 at once. If you're limiting yourself to just one, I'd go with For the Birds.

Saw the Swell Season show on Saturday Night, Glenn and Marketa are a perfect little couple, the songs were all great, and it was a cool little acoustic show.
It was in a church/ministry and just the guitar and piano was perfect. The room sounded great. They performed all the songs from the film, even the hoover fixer song.

I love "Fitzcarraldo". It reminds me of Ireland, when I lived there years ago. "Revelate" was a big hit for The Frames (the video, shot on a camcorder, was always in heavy rotation).
