X-Ray Spex - "Germ Free Adolescents"

One of my favs from that era, if you don't mind female singers. They don't come much more punk than Poly Styrene.

Just to name a few of my must haves.

Flesh Eaters - Especially "A Minute to Pray a Second to Die" "Miss Muerta" "Dragstrip Riot"

Beyond Possession - "Is Beyond Possession" "Tell Tale Heart" (if you can even find these) Your best bet would be to try to find the "Repossessed" Anthology Disk on ebay or something.

Dead Kennedys "Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables" "Plastic Surgery Disasters" "Frankenchrist"

Germs - I'd just go with the anthology

The Cramps - "Songs the Lord Taught Us" "Bad Music for Bad People" "Stay Sick"

The Adverts - Anthology

Husker Du - "Zen Arcade" "Metal Circus" "Candy Apple Grey"

Drunk Injuns - "From Where the Sun Now Stands I will fight No More, forever"

Dicks - "1980-1986"

Fear - "The Record"

False Prophets - "Blind Roaches & Fat Vultures: Phantasmagorical Beasts of the Reagan Era"

Jello Biafra w/DOA - "Last Scream of the Missing Neighbors"

Rancid, Op Ivy, Flogging Molly, Dropkick Murphys, and some older H2O are probably my fav punk bands... Im more of a old school HC/punk guy and you may like some of that. Minor Threat, Nausea, Bold, Youth of Today, Gorilla Biscuits type shit. Bad Brains of course is always good as well.

You must be drunk if you think those are better than Fresh Fruit.

What's so great about this album is that there is nothing else like it. They nailed the whole 20+ song album in this perfect blend of punk snot with arty cool. It sounds fantastic from start to finish. When I hear these little boyband punkies doing their 4th generation Green Day it utterly pales in comparison.

I wouldn't consider Husker Du's "New Day Rising" or "Flip Your Wig" to be "punk". They abandoned the "punk" genre tag by the time those albums came out (which are fantastic, by the way)

Dillinger Four is the best of the newer punk bands. Everything they've done has been incredible.

Don't neglect Screeching Weasel or the Queers!!!

I got Minutemen's Double Nickels on the Dime based off recommendations here and I love it, although I find it hard to listen to the whole thing in one sitting. That doesn't mean it's bad, I just prefer shorter doses.

Of newish punk bands, I really like MxPx.

I'm going to check out Wire next.

Nodeer, that quote in your sig isn't yours.

This forum never neglects the queers.

Dillinger Four are fantastic! My friends' band Tiger Army are getting some actual airplay in LA and SF right now, good guys, great musicians. I really loved the Nerve Agents when they were around, unfortunately they had a pretty short but fruitful run. Check out NA's Days Of The White Owl and The Butterfly Collection.

Your friend's in Tiger Army? Cool. I bought Ghost Tigers Rise a few years back. I knew nothing about them but the combination of their name and the album art piqued my interest.

...yeah but your average punk music fan needs those albums in their collection. Also, "Flip Your Wig" is pretty much the template for all pop-punk albums since, if you're going to include MxPx on this list, you need it.

I'm really proud of them. You can even see my name in the thanks list in the first CD. I've known Nick for 10 years, and the other guys almost that long. The new album sounds like a winner, I'm not so much a fan of the song they have in rotation on KROQ, but there are some seriously rockin' tunes on the album. June 5th!

Well as a huge DK fan, and as much as I love FFFRV, 'Plastic Surgery Disasters' and the 'In God We Trust' Ep are comparable efforts. All 3 are brillliant.
