Quelle Surprise! US Tour Cancelled.
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/articl...=entertainment Amy Winehouse has put her North American tour on hold, raising more concerns about her health. "Due to the rigors involved in touring, Amy Winehouse has been advised to postpone her upcoming September U.S. and Canadian tour dates," the British singer's publicist, Tracy Miller, said in a statement Tuesday. "Amy's European and U.K. tour dates in October and November remain in place. Plans are being made to reschedule her U.S. tour for early 2008. Until then, Amy has been ordered to rest and is working with medical professionals to address her health." Last week, it was announced that the 23-year-old was canceling all her August performances due to "severe exhaustion." While British tabloids have claimed the retro-soul singer has been in rehab due to drug abuse, her spokeswoman has denied such claims. Winehouse made her U.S. debut this year with the acclaimed album "Back to Black," but her celebrity has been fueled by her tabloid image as much as her talent. She's spoken openly about her past battles with drugs and her penchant for alcohol and marijuana, and her hit single "Rehab" is an autobiographical tale of her resistance to being pushed to go to rehab: "They tried to make me go to rehab, but I said no, no, no." Winehouse was scheduled to appear at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sept. 9 in Las Vegas, but it is unclear if she will be on hand for the event. |

Every time I see this thread bumped, I think she must have died.

Bloodied and bruised Amy Winehouse stands by husband who 'saved her life'
Singer Amy Winehouse has defended her husband in a series of texts after the couple were involved in a violent row which left them both bloodied and bruised. Amy denied Blake was the cause of the argument, 24 hours earlier after which the 23-year-old singer, who has spent most of the summer in and out of rehab for crack and heroin addiction, was seen with bandages covering her arm, blood-spattered shoes and a gashed knee. And in a series of texts between the Rehab singer and celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, she defended her husband who she claimed "saved my life". Amy told Perez: "Blake is the best man in the world. We would never ever harm each other... I was cutting myself after he found me in our room about to do drugs with a call girl and rightly said I wasn't good enough for him. I lost it and he saved my life." |

Father-in-law: Boycott Winehouse albums By JILL LAWLESS, Associated Press Writer Tue Aug 28, 8:55 AM ET LONDON - Amy Winehouse's father-in law says fans should stop buying her records to force the singer to seek help for what he called a drug addiction. Giles Fielder-Civil said he believed Winehouse and his son, Blake Fielder-Civil, had used cocaine, crack cocaine and heroin and were in "abject denial" about their problem. "I think they believe they are recreational users of drugs and they are in control," Fielder-Civil told British Broadcasting Corp. radio Tuesday. "Clearly they are addicts." He said fans should send a message to Winehouse "that her addiction and her behavior are not acceptable." "Perhaps it is time to stop buying records," Fielder-Civil said. "It's a possibility, to send that message." However, Winehouse's father said a boycott would do little good. "It's all clutching at straws," Mitch Winehouse told the BBC. "There's only one way out of this, and anybody with any drug experience will tell you ... that the only way out of this is not sectioning them, not locking them up. At some point they are going to reach rock bottom ... and at that point they will say, `Listen, I don't want to do this anymore.'" Giles Fielder-Civil said Winehouse's record label should be more "pro-active in helping the couple to get better." Island Records couldn't immediately be reached for comment. Winehouse, 23, has built her reputation on a soulful voice and a hard-partying image. Her most recent album, "Back to Black," topped the British charts and produced the hit single "Rehab." Concern for her health has grown since Winehouse was taken to a hospital earlier this month for "severe exhaustion" and spent a short stint in a rehab facility. She has since canceled a series of British concerts and postponed a tour of the U.S. and Canada. Last week, newspaper pictures showed Winehouse and Blake Fielder-Civil bloody and bruised, apparently after a fight in a London hotel. Gossip Web site perezhilton.com said it had received text messages from Winehouse denying Fielder-Civil was responsible for her injuries. I absolutely love Back to Black (and think Frank is pretty good, too), but from all of the interviews and magazine articles about her that I've read, she's a mess. I hope she cleans herself up. And eats a sandwich or two. |
Just wanted to say I got into her music not too long ago, and think the BtB album is one of the best I've heard in a long time.
I really like the Tears Dry On Their Own song. |

The cancellation mark's the continuation of Winehouse's withdrawal from the music industry while she recovers from reported drug addiction. The star is currently on holiday in St Lucia with her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, and has visited a drug rehab centre in Essex sporadically over the past few weeks. Similarly, Winehouse's previously scheduled US tour, which had been set to run through September, has been postponed until 2008 |
I'm a little late to the party. Just got BTB and love it even though it does sound like shit if it played too loud.

Wow I just heard about her fight with the hubby. The news people made it seem like it happen yesterday. Hmmm unless she got into another fight with hubby over.
To bad it seems she is destroying herself. I think we won't be hearing anything else good about her. |

Anyone know what the four bonus songs are that's on the Best Buy Back to Black reissue that came out today? BestBuy.com was of no help.
I would imagine "Addicted" - which was curiously left off of the US edition - is among the songs. ***Insert obligatory rant about my hatred of record labels putting out deluxe editions within months of an original album's release*** |
So this is only for Best Buy?
