Chris Cornell quits Audioslave

Not being much of a fan of Audioslave, I'm not too broken up about the news. Soundgarden getting back together would be even cooler than RATM getting back together.
Time will tell.

Hmmm, I like RATM, Soundgarden, and Audioslave but really none of them rock quite as hard as RATM imo. I'm glad audioslave lasted as long as it did, but I'm much more interested in what could come of the split than I am in a 4th audioslave album. RATM and Soundgarden are near my all time favorite modern rock bands, so anything the band members do from those roots is of interest to me.

Can't stand RATM, not a big Soundgarden fan either. Audioslave started off with one good album, then went downhill. Then they sold one of their damn songs to WWE for a whore search competition, and it got so I hated them just because I identified the song with that crappy product. LOVE Cornell's solo album, though, and looking forward to hearing his next one.
Picked up a recording of Cornell doing an acoustic show from last year, where he sang "Billie Jean" by Michael Jackson. "Interesting" doesn't begin to describe the sound.

Cornell blows the doors down with his rendition of "Ave Maria". I actually didn't realize how beautiful that song is until he sang it.
I can't wait to hear "Billie Jean". Here's hoping you mean "interesting" in a good way.

I have a couple of RATM albums, and a couple of Soundgarden albums (1 studio and their A-sides/greatest hits). I like them, but I'm not passionate about them.
However, I really liked Chris Cornell's solo album, so I'm glad to hear he's working on another one.
Even though I'm just a casual fan of RATM, I'm curious to see how a new album would sound with Zach back in the fold. Same goes with Soundgarden if they were to reunite.

I just listened to Cornell's Live in Sweden cd........or I don't even know if it's a CD or just a taping of it that's been leaked on the internet, but the covers and acoustic versions are very interesting and I am loving it.

Cornell's voice just blows me away. I swear, his screams are so powerful that they could peel paint off the wall.

Eh, they should have broken up after the first album and left it at that.

Launch Radio Networks reports: Former AUDIOSLAVE frontman Chris Cornell told RollingStone.com on Friday (February 16) that he wasn't getting along particularly well with the other members of the band during the latter stages of their time together, saying, "Getting along as people is one thing. Getting along as a group of people that can work together in a band situation...We weren't particularly getting along well, no. Bands work in a way where everyone at some point has to have a similar idea of how you do things...Three albums into it, it started to seem like our interests weren't as conjoined anymore."
Cornell admitted that he hadn't spoken to the rest of the band in a few months, and that they heard about his departure from the group on Thursday (February 15), the same day he announced it publicly.
The singer said in a statement that "irresolvable personality conflicts as well as musical differences" led him to leave AUDIOSLAVE after three studio albums, although his departure had been rumored since last summer.
Cornell will release his second solo album, titled "Carry On", on May 1.
The other members of AUDIOSLAVE — guitarist Tom Morello, bassist Tim Commerford and drummer Brad Wilk — recently announced that their previous band, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, will reunite to perform at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in April.
