Don Henley says the Eagles have nearly completed a new album of all new material.

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - After nearly 30 years, California's classic rock group the Eagles may soon release their first album of all-new music.
Founding member Don Henley said during a private weekend concert that the band was nearing completion on an album of all-new material, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported on Tuesday.
"It's coming out in 60 to 90 days, if we don't kill each other first," Henley, 59, told the crowd Saturday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
Eagles and Henley spokesman Larry Solters said Wednesday there was no comment.

"The Long Run" in 1979 was the Eagles last album featuring all-new studio material. That album included the Grammy-winning single "Heartache Tonight."

The group officially disbanded in 1982, then they reunited in 1994 for a comeback tour featuring Henley, Glenn Frey,Joe Walsh, Timothy Schmit and Don Felder.

The band appeared together again in 1998, with past members Bernie Leadon and Randy Meisner, when they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

SWEET!!!!!!! That will be awesome. When I first read that article above, I was suprised that the Eagles were in town this weekend and I missed them, but I guess it was some sort of corporate show. I'm curious to see how this album comes out; I liked the new songs on the last DVD and assume they'll be on it.

God, if only if they would mend fences with Don Felder I would be in heaven. This is still absolutely incredible. Henley's voice is still in incredible shape, as is Timothy B. Schimdt's.
Man...of all new material!!!!! I think I am about ready to scream. Now, if we can just get "The Police" to record a new album of all new material then we'd be in buisness.

Its such bullshit with the whole Don Felder thing.He wanted more money since he came up with the whole guitar parts for "Hotel California". From what I hear, he and the band are not even on speaking terms. Yes, he certainly was trying to be greedy there is no doubt about it, but his guitar parts were an intregal part of The Eagles' sound. I know, he doesn't sing on any tracks, but its still pisses me off to no end.

I'm not expecting too much from this. After all, in 1994 when they recorded new tracks for their live album Hell Freezes Over, the songs stunk. Get Over It, one of the new studio-recorded songs, was terrible.

In 1994, all they had to do was come up with ONE GREAT SONG, and they failed miserably. Now, in 2007, they have to come up with A WHOLE ALBUM, which is a lot harder to do than just recording one song...

Get Over It was no Boys of Summer (Don Henley solo hit) or You Belong To The City (Glen Frey solo hit). You would think that the two together could come up with a kick-ass tune, but they couldn't do it in 1994. I doubt they can do it now.

I really like "Get Over It." It's a fun Rock song in the "Life in the Fast Lane," vein.

I thought Love Will Keep Us Alive was a solid effort in the same vein as I Can't Tell You Why.

If you look in the music dvd section at Walmart you might find the Eagles live in Australia DVD that came out a year ago, Its priced at $9.72. It also comes with a 3 song sampler of the new material they are working on. Of the three new songs one is just o.k. (glen fry singing) and the other two are HORRIBLE. Maybe they were just works in progress...but they suck

Why do pop/rock artists seem to have so much trouble coming up with good material once they get into their 40's, 50's and older? A lot of great writers publish some of their best work in their old age (look at someone like Philip Roth now), and a lot of filmmakers are the same way (Hitchcock really got going when he was in his 50's), so why not musicians?

Because most musicians do way more drugs than writers or filmmakers?

Not true at all. Look at Scorsese. He did as many drugs as anybody back in the 70's and then he just put out a great film like The Departed. Why couldn't The Who do this with their last one or now The Eagles?

I hear Joe Walsh on the radio from time to time on the Steve Dahl show. man, that guy sounds like a complete burnout. He seems personable but we're talking fairly deep drug damage a la Ozzy.

Scorsese obviously didnt do as many drugs as Frey (has Teflon membranes in his nose due to coke use)
or Walsh (see what Hiro said above)

But I'm not saying that it's only drugs, but drugs are certainly one one the reasons for most older bands. Sometimes drugs don't even come into the equation, you just get rich and lose the drive to create and play great new music (see: KISS)

Yes, Glenn Frey's voice is not as good as it once was, but I heard Henley a few years back in OC and that man still hit all the high notes perfectly on "The Boys of Summer". They also have a godsend in Timothy B. Schimt whose voice is so wonderful to listen to. Its this very ethereal sound to it. By the way, Schimt is still in top condition vocally as well. As long as those 2 are in great shape singing-wise, I think it will be a classic record.

Love Will Keep Us Alive is actually a cover of a Paul Carrack song

Are you sure Paul Carrack recorded it first? The song was on Hell Freezes Over, which came out in 1994. Paul released his version on Blue Views, which was released in 1997.

Carrack wrote it, IIRC.

Yeah, didn't see Carrack credited on allmusic.com but that isn't really that surprising. A quick look at the Hell Freezes Over cd showed there are actually three writers (including Carrack), not just the one listed on allmusic.
