That could be interesting as it's not new material. I don't think Lynch was with the band in '81 which would temper my interest though.

I didn't buy the last Dokken album making it the first one I don't own. After the crap that was "Long Way Home" (and the fact Pilson left and they changed guitarists again) I don't regret the decision at all.

I didn't bother buying the last album either, I'm just wondering if their new studio album this year will be any good.

According to Don, the live '81 DVD is just also going to have the old videos on it. It doesn't sound like its the whole Unchain the Night video:

Hi everybody here's the artwork for all of you. The cd is called Dokken Live 1981 From Conception. The release date is March 13th '07 and I think the DVD is coming out at the same time, but will find out for sure by Friday, the videos on the DVD are "breaking the chains","just got lucky","burning like a flame", "alone again","dream warriors","into the fire", "walk away", "the hunter","in my dreams", 'its not love", "heaven sent", and the unchain the night video. there will be also some commentary of Mick and myself talking about the making of the videos, so there's the update for now, I think I forgot one video but can't think of it right now cause I'm fried.
take care everyone
D D

I have the "unplugged" VHS and the '95 Live in Japan DVD. I had to get rid of that god-awful Live from the Sun DVD because the visual effects drove me nuts. I wish there was a video of the Beast from the East show. I'd love to see that one of them in their prime.

Well, either I misread it, or it looks like Don decided to milk more money out of this by selling the two DVDs separately:

Ooooh, I want the "Unchain the Night" DVD to upgrade from my VHS. (I'm a big Dokken fan, as you can tell from my username.)

Dokken was my favorite band when I grew up. Got to meet George Lynch last year. Never got to see him with Dokken

Yeah I've met George a bunch of times at NAMM. Very nice guy. My favorite guitarist.
I'm glad they're finally releasing 'Unchain The Night' on DVD, my VHS copy is worn out.
I've seen Dokken at least 15 times with George and a couple of times with Reb.
I sure would like his REH Instructional Video, 'Guitar Bible' and 'Open Jam' to get the DVD treatment.

Damn you!

Even though I love Norum I never saw him with Dokken. Nor have I seen them with Jon Levin.

Picked up Unchain The Night last night. Haven't had a chance to watch it yet so I'm not sure what the quality is, but it has to be better than my old VHS copy...

Yup! NYE 1997 in Detroit. George had just left and they grabbed John to fill in. I had seen them the previous NYE with George and also that summer opening for Alice Cooper.

Not the greatest picture, but here is me, George and my buddy from a show George did a few years ago:

I just picked up the Unchain the Night DVD at Wal-Mart for $9.72.

The title of this thread should have been "Old stuff from Dokken to be released this year"

Don't ever tell me how to post new threads or I will turn you into K-Mart for stealing that Star Wars Monopoly game.

So they say.....

Watched some of the DVD last night. Mostly the newly-added stuff. I couldn't get all the way through the 30-minute Don and Mick interview because Mick was just annoying the shit out of me. Every time Don tries to tell a story, Mick has to cut him off with something stupid and then laugh at at.

With intros by Mick and Don and also new 30-minute interview with them taped in December.

Figured this doesn't need a new thread, but I am listening to the promo of the new album Lightning Strikes Again. Aside from the stupid promo voice interruptions, it sounds pretty good so far. Sounds like they're trying to recapture their 80's sound.
