Jewish Groups.

I'm really getting into what I call ReggaeJew (a play on words on Reggaeton). I LOVE Matisyahu and newcomer TaShma (whom I like more than Matisyahu). Anyone else into them? What other artists in that similar vein are they?

I thought it was really cool that Matisyahu appeared on TaShma's album, helping them out.

Just noting, I'm not just looking for Jewish musicians. I'm looking for groups like Matisyahu and TaShma. Their lyrics are about praising G-d, religion, peace, etc, but to a reggae beat.

Something tells me that's a niche market.

the last couple of P.O.D. albums have taken on kind of a reggae feel (and Matisyahu is on the most recent one, Testify)

Here's a pretty comprehensive list of Jewish musicians in the US.

Looking at the list on wikipedia, I see...

Michael Bolton
Neil Diamond
Kenny G
Barry Manilow
Mel Torme

...and I wonder if its a conflict of interest that they all made Christmas albums.

Kinky Friedman and the Texas Jewboys. Good stuff. I particularly like his song "They Ain't Making Jews Like Jesus Anymore".

Borat.

He had a hit song called "Throw the Jew Down the Well".

Not exactly reggaeton, but there may have been a lyric or two that sounded like "jah".

Golem. More on the klezmer side of things but punky and a lot of fun in general.
