anybody own The Jam: Direction Reaction Creation?

I guess I have to buy this...didn't even know it existed until today....looks like CD Universe has it pretty cheap....any reason not to buy from there?

I own it, and yes, you have to have it. It collects most (but not all) of their studio stuff in one handy package, with a whole disc of unreleased material. If you bought this and another CD called "Extras", you'd be set. That is, unless you want their live and BBC material. I've got them all, but I'm a Jam fanatic.

I've checked a few other sites, and it does appear that CD Universe has it the cheapest (48 bucks). I've never ordered from them, so I can't say how reliable they are. But if it were me, I'd take the chance.

Don't take this the wrong way, but do you mind if I ask you where you've been for the past ten years?

This box set is well worth the price, there's also a equally awesome box set for the Style Council: The Complete Adventures of the Style Council, in addition to a box set of Weller's solo b-sides and rarities called Fly On the Wall. The latter becomes redundant if you already own all the Weller singles, save for a few never before released songs, but it's also a must own for the completist!

It's fantastic. The individual CD cover photos are wonderful.

I always tell people that I haven't listened to any music released after 1986. And as for The Jam, I was happy listening to the 6-7 cds I have...of the 4000 mp3s in my car, most are Elvis Costello, Thelonious Monster, X, The Clash, The Jam, Supergrass (ok, this is after 1986), Sonic Youth, The Who....so yeah, I haven't really been paying attention for the last 10 years....

Wow. You have all those Paul Weller solo albums to buy, too.

Oops, and here I was thinking you were a Jam n00b. To echo Wendersfan, you should check out Paul Weller's solo material if you haven't already (I assume you've got some Style Council; their box set is also worthwhile).
