http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20061225/..._mu/obit_brown

ATLANTA - James Brown, the legendary singer known as the "Godfather of Soul," has died, his agent said early Monday. He was 73.

Brown was hospitalized Sunday at Emory Crawford Long Hospital with pneumonia and died around 1:45 a.m. Monday, said his agent, Frank Copsidas of Intrigue Music. Longtime friend Charles Bobbit was by his side, Copsidas said.

Interesting how the article just calls it "early monday" rather than "early Christmas morning" or "early on December 25th".

Sorry to hear of his passing, at least it was relatively quick.

Very sad. My dad will be surprised to hear this. He's always gone on and on about how he saw Mr. Brown 3 times in one year...

RIP James.

That "one good article every issue" held true for a wonderful, lengthy James Brown write up in Rolling Stone recently. Worth seeking out.

Well, with just under 200 JB songs on my Ipod, I guess I know what I'll be listening to around the house today...

James has been my favorite musician since I was 16 years old. This one really hurts.

No mention of his death on ENTERTAINMENT TONITE or E! NEWS DAILEY on Monday.
And ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY has no mention in their 2006 YEAR END issue.

It just happened today. The year-end EW issue went to print long before then. As for the shows, they were likely recorded in advance because of Christmas.
