KORN: MTV Unplugged
Korn Tapes 'Unplugged,' Drummer 'On Hiatus'
Korn shot on episode of MTV's "Unplugged" series last weekend, garnering guest turns from some high-profile guests. Although a spokesperson could not confirm the set list, sources tell Billboard.com it featured Evanescence's Amy Lee on "Freak on a Leash" and a blend of Korn's "Make Me Bad" and the Cure's "In Between Days" with the latter band on stage. No airdate has been announced yet for the taping.
Meanwhile, Korn will be moving forward on its next studio album without drummer David Silveria, who is taking a "temporary hiatus" from the band. A one-sentence statement from the artist says only, "I just need a break right now."
The follow-up to 2005's "See You on the Other Side" is tentatively due in June via Virgin. It will be supported by another edition of the Family Values tour, which was resurrected this summer.
The trek is chronicled on the upcoming CD/DVD "Family Values Tour Live," due Dec. 26 via Firm Music.

The rumored DVD date [a month ago] was for February 2007.
[I didn't have any other info on this, so I didn't start the thread back then.]

Yes, the taping was last week. MTV invited me to drop by for it so I went. Small crowd of around 40-50 people, very intimate environment. Korn invited Amy Lee on for "Freak on a Leash" and later did two sets with The Cure. They had an orchestra with them for most of it, and gave "Blind" a Latin touch. Closed it off with a Japanese drum circle.
The show will air in Feb, along with the release of the album and DVD. My article on the filming is going up next week.

This sounds interesting, at the least. I kind of fell away from koRn after the album with the girl playing hopscotch on the edge of the cliff. I guess that was their first "mainstream" album, right? I'm always interested in MTV's Unplugged stuff, and I wish there were more CDs out there in the series.
Thanks for the info.

Anyone see the video they're showing on MTV? "Freak on a Leash" w/Amy Lee. It's pretty cool if you ask me.

I heard a couple tracks from the album and it is not very good, Throw Me Away was just awful.
I had high hopes for this album but it is just not meant to be.

I appreciate when bands try to do new things... every song on the album has about 1 cool part to it, but it just doesnt work. Some bands were meant to use distortion.
Plus their cover of creep made me cringe.
