Though I take the unorthodox position of saying THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK is the worst of the original SW trilogy (and compound it by saying RETURN OF THE JEDI is the best), I think the score for EMPIRE is not only the greatest SW score ever written, but the greatest film score of all time.

Anything by James Horner.

So much so that I know "Apocalypto" will be a favorite, and it hasn't been released yet.

I always enjoyed Jerry Goldsmith's score to Basic Instinct. Also can't forget "Last of the Mohicans" by Randy Edelman.

Just about anything by John Barry. Especially the Bonds, Ipcrerss File, Quiller Memo., The Chase.
Although best known for James Bond films, and oscar winner for Born Free, Out Of Africa and Dances With Wolves, his biggest selling soudtrack and the one he receives the most mail and compliments about is SOMEWHERE IN TIME.

Was there something wrong with your OLD thread?

In fact, as I pointed out HERE and HERE, your thread was actually the third time this topic was started.

I realize the search button can be sucky, but c'mon..

Conan The Barbarian is way up there for me. It's very sad to post that seeing how the composer, Basil Poledouris, just passed away recently.

Some of my other favorites:

The LOTR trilogy (Howard Shore)
The Star Wars series (John Williams)
E.T. (John Williams)
Superman (John Williams) - gets my vote for greatest film score of all time
Braveheart (James Horner)
Troy - rejected score (Gabriel Yared)
First Knight (Jerry Goldsmith)
Dances With Wolves (John Barry)

There are literally hundreds more, but I don't have the time or the space to type them all out.

Lost Of The Mohicans, while a great score, was mostly written by Trevor Jones. He wrote the majority of the score before he had to leave the project and Randy Edelman came in and finished up the job.

The search engine might suck, but there's no excuse for someone repeating a thread that they've started before.

And to keep this on topic, The Crow (by Graeme Revel) is probably my favorite movie score.

Though I didn't like the movie, I loved the Donnie Darko soundtrack.
Also, Amelie, Narnia, Back to the Future, The Harry Potter films and the Virgin Suicides.

Sorry for the repeat of this thread. It's been exactly a year since I made that thread & didn't remember doing so. I've been listening to nothing but movie scores for over a week now & just wanted to get other recommendations.
