Come one, come all: last.fm (formerly AudioScrobbler) DVD Talk group

There hasn't been much talk around these parts lately about DVD Talk's last.fm group, so I thought I'd give a reminder that everyone's welcome to join.

My interest in last.fm was renewed a couple of months ago when I found an application that can send the data from my iPod (pretty much how I listen to most of my music nowadays). First, I used yamiPod until the latest iTunes update; now I use the much smoother audioPod. For some reason, though, the DVD Talk group isn't generating any charts right now - hopefully, they'll fix that. But, in the meantime, there's plenty of charts that you can post on your website/blog/MySpace/whatever. For instance, here are my recently played tracks:

and my top weekly artists:

Pretty neat!

(btw, I'm "jmblya" on last.fm)

I don't know if I just joined, or have been there, but I'm in.
Mine transmits from Windows Media Player.
Does audiopod track your offline ipod usage, then submit when you sync next? If so I'll do that.

Yes, it does. It'll submit all the songs you've fully played since the last time you a) submitted songs through audioPod or b) connected your ipod to iTunes.

I used to use yamiPod and was not completely happy with it. It would take a long time to load and disconnect, and after submitting songs it would mark the podcasts that I had already listened to as new.

Then iTunes 7 came out and yamiPod wasn't supported, so I switched to audioPod and am very glad I did. It runs much smoother.

I manually update my iPod, so that's why I use it. There are other apps you can use if you autosync your iPod, which will eliminate this little hurdle you have to do.

Here's a list of my top 10 artists, overall.

My weekly chart is pretty sparse right now...

My guess is the charts aren't updating because we don't have more than 15 active members.

Last.fm updates their charts on Sundays, so we might have to wait until Sun or Mon before they show up.

I joined the dvdtalk group also (Rockin_Chair). Here's my current top 10 artists.

I autosync mine, can you suggest an app for that?

I used to be a part of last.fm, but the program I used kept hanging up my computer when logging off. I never actually came to the site, so I just stopped using it.

I deleted my account with last.fm earlier in the summer because of how frustrating it was to use: buggy, slow, odd/incorrect updates... I don't know that it's neccessarily better now, but I'm giving it a second try (and joined the DVD Talk group just now). My charts run pretty low in number of plays, for both artists and songs, because I tend to listen to a ton of different things throughout the space of a week, and don't typically repeat more than a handful of songs if they've really, really gotten stuck in my head.

I'm in!

I've been scrobbling at Last.fm since July or something, and really like it, bugs and all. I'm a sucker for this data-gathering stuff.

Periodic member drive bump.

Also, I'm not too thrilled with the redesign of last.fm. Maybe it's just my natural fear of change, but I thought the look of the old site was much cleaner and unique. Now it looks like any number of social networking sites.

I haven't played around with the new features, but the only new thing that I'd want still isn't an option: the ability to delete most played artists/songs. (see, long ago I accidentally left the Isobel Campbell/Mark Lanegan album repeating all night while I was away from my computer, despite the fact that I only actually *listened* to it a couple of times; yeah, I'm anal like that.)

First Entertainment Weekly changes their layout and now this. Not a very good week for my beloved status quo.
