Lupe Fiasco's Food & Liquor...best hip-hop album of the year?

It has been a good year for hip-hop, with this cd and Rhymefest's Blue Collar as the two best in my opinion. Food & Liquor sounds different than any album I have heard before, even the one track Kanye West produced sounds nothing like his style. All hip-hop and rap fans should purchase this cd, definitely worth the money.

You should check out Cunninlynguists- A Piece Of Strange and PackFM whutduzFMstand4?

Those are the two best hip hop albums of the year imo.

Lupe's cd is good though.

No love for Murs & 9th Wonder's Murray's Revenge? I haven't heard this one yet, though.

Fishscale is the best of the year... Nothing else is even close.

But... I'd say Lupe is definitely in the top 5 or so... I liked the Lupe Guevarra mixtape better than the actual album...

This album is much much much better than Fishscale...the production is unlike anything I've ever heard.

My main complaint about the album lies in the production... Lupe as a rapper, I love. I think the guy is talented as hell. Some of the production just seems kind of weak to me (Not all, just some). I like the original bootlegged copy of Food and Liquor much better.

I do agree that the album is great though. Fishscale, in my mind, is just amazing. I feel that album pulse through my body like no other this year in any genre.

How many people wish rappers would just put the 10 or 11 best joints on the disc and save the rest for soundtracks??

too many people, especially like say Snoop try to cram 17 songs and 78 minutes onto every cd.

I'd also submit for consideration:
Aceyalone & RJD2 - Magnificent City
7L & Esoteric - A New Dope

Lupe is definitely up there. I have high hopes for Nas and Jay-Z to knock some off of the top ten list.

The Cunninlyinguists CD is excellent. I thought the PackFM CD was way overrated.

The new Visionaries CD is also very good.

Lupe is great. The funny thing is he or Ghost or Cunn or The Roots or Murs could take best hip-hop album of the year, and what do they all have in common? All together class - originality!
