should have stuck with the name The Sex Maggots

I always thought Butt Trumpet was a silly gratituous name for a band.

I am not making this up, but a church friend of mine had a son, whose name was Lyman and their garage band was called Lyman's Hymen

Brilliant list. I even agree with the bands I like on that list.

Salty was right though, Goo Goo Dolls should have made that list. I used to be so embarassed telling people that's what I was listening to (before they blew up), and now that everyone knows the name, I still hate it.

The The
Toad The Wet Sprocket

The original name for Audioslave was Civilian. IMO, a much cooler name.

Wasn't the Goo Goo Dolls' original name the F--- Buckets? Hmm, maybe that was someone else.

Personally I can't really stand the name Butthole Surfers, but that's me.

Toad The Wet Sprocket
The thing about Toad the Wet Sprocket is that they themselves hated the name and regretted choosing it but had to stick with it after they found success.

I always wanted to start a band and call it "Botched Abortion".
When I was about 14 my cousin and I would come up with hilariously offensive band names and the 2 most memorable ones I came up with were "The Botched Abortions" and "The Fetal Fucks". In any case, I came up with "The Botched Abortions" over a decade ago so you'd better not use it or you'll be hearing from my lawyer.

A friend of mine and I always wanted to name a band nostrilgödstench after seeing a televangelist who said that sinners are a stench in the nostrils of God. It would probably have to be a metal band.

I always thought Godspeed You Black Emperor! was an extremely retarded band name.

Sometimes I see concert listings for "I am the World Trade Center". I haven't seen it listed in a while but "Dick Delicious and his Tasty Testicles" used to come around every so often also. Pun intended.

I've never heard them but I think "...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of The Dead" is the coolest band name ever.

Yeah, that would've sold them a lot of records! They couldn't get gigs with that name! Well... probably now they could, but certainly not back in '85-'86!

I know I read an interview with one of the band members that said moe. got the name from the musical. I think the monkeys on ecstasy thing came later when they were trying to play some stealth shows.

And you're right, Animal Liberation Orchestra is a terrible name...
