Awesome. 2006 has been a hell of a musical year for me.

I hope this album is closer to Deloused than Frances. Is that just me?

Hopefully, they'll get their own headlining tour this time.

not sure, but i will be seeing them open for RHCP quite a few times in the fall. unfortunately, IMO, their sound does not translate very well live..

Loved Deloused. Hated Frances. So I'm only halfway interested in this new one.

You can hear a new song on their myspace page, it sounds pretty good. I 'm more fond of Frances myself but like them both.

When Frances is at its best, it is better than De-Loused. Still, I found so much of the album meandering that I can't give it a full listen. De-Loused I can listen to straight through without a problem.

Yeah, I saw them open for A Perfect Circle in Chicago, and I thought they were pretty wretched live.

before i even started listening to them, i saw them open for RHCP several times in 2003. i hated them. then i heard deloused some time after that, and loved it. i was wondering why i didn't like them live... then i downloaded a few shows and was reminded.

When I saw them open for the Pixies, they did like 4 songs in 45 minutes. Looks like their albums are about the same. (10 minute songs, or like the concert 3, 8 minutes songs and a 20 minute song)

This album got leaked yesterday for those of you who want to sample it. Personally, I think it's fantastic. It's definitley more "Frances" than "Deloused". The songs are very ambient and u often feel lost within them searching for the verse & chorus & whatnot. Also, this thing has 3 songs that intermix Spanish & English verses. I only wish there was an underlying story like in "Frances"...although that may have yet to emerge. Those who prefer "Deloused" will definitley love track #7.

I'll still give it a listen. The "lost" feeling starseed describes is exactly what I didn't like about Frances. I'll wait for the release, though.

I agree too. I couldn't really ever get into Frances much, but have listened to De-Loused countless times over the past few years.

Chino...the post you quoted was...from 2 months ago. He actually had the CD a month before you. Time stamps are the win.

How big of a role does John Frusciante have on this album?

I've read that most of the guitar work is his. If that's true then the Chili Peppers/Mars Volta concert I'm seeing next month should be interesting.
