Opinions? Anyone have it or know anyone that does? It has a USB out on it so you can plug it into your computer. Would love to know how this is to archive my LP's.

dig, I looked at that online over the weekend and decided to spend half that much money on a TT that has a preamp and a line in cable instead of the USB. Some might say a USB could provide better sound quality, but I'm not that concerned. Some of the reviews complained that the Ion is plasticy. It also doesn't come with a cover which is odd.

I bought an Audio Technica from Amazon for $74. I'm NOT looking for audiophile quality. Just something that will help me rip some less-than-perfect vinyl and can hookup straight into the computer w/out needing my receiver or a preamp. It's not pretty and has mixed reviews, but it seems to fit what I need,

I actually have a turntable right now but I'd MUCH rather have something with USB for a direct connection. I think it's genius.

What is the difference between line in and USB? Can there really be a huge difference in sound?

I've gotten a humming that will come and go depending on the connection. I'd rather have something that's (hopefully) a little more stable.

The difference is where the analog -> digital trasnformation is done. I personally would trust a nice TT and nice sound card over this thing, but it is a neat idea/device.

Please keep us updated on what you decide. I had an order for the TTUSB, but ended up cancelling simply because I needed to cut back on expenses in the short-term. Will probably just wait until Christmas now.

with a slew of 7" vinyl I've been buying in the last few months, a turntable with a USB port sounds like a great idea.

While reading reviews this past weekend I was under the impression these are basically the same units. I think the ION model is made by Numark, but I'm not certain.

I can see why you'd buy this to avoid a hum. That makes sense.

It's not extremely loud but it does annoy me if you turn the volume up high enough.

I have this on order, but Amazon has it backordered for a few more days yet.

One nice thing -- it also has standard RCA connections so you can use it on your stereo system as well as with your PC (USB).

Someone mentioned this in the LaLa feedback area not too long ago
and I went ahead and ordered it. It wasn't the easiest thing in
the world to put together and the instructions for the software
appeared to be for a different version than the one that the disc
installed. Once you get over these initial hurdles though, it's
smooth sailing. There's options with the software (Audacity)
to remove the 'white noise', 'clicks', etc..normalize..and a ton
of others things to play with. One of my favorite options is to
'fast' record. Basically, you record a 33rpm at 45rpm and the
software normalizes the speed. It's pretty easy to mark the
beginning and ending of tracks, so that it's easy to split the
files into separate song files. You can also record 78rpm's!

My only complaint now which is not very significant is that
the USB connection interrupts with your sound card in such a
way that I had to play around with the software for a bit before
I could figure out how I could record a vinyl AND listen to
something else at the same time. (and also later listen to
the vinyl recording) The normal functionality of my sound
card only returns when I completely unplug the USB cable
from the computer.

I am VERY happy with this. If anyone is interested, I can e-mail
you an example of some stuff I've ripped. Thanks to whomever
first mentioned this.

I'm not a audiophile, but I think this is a simple solution for
those of us who just want to get our vinyl on our computers and
enjoy the music (and not agonize or criticize the hardware's
imperfections). With that being said, everything I've done sounds
damn good to me.

Can you use any audio program to record? Where did you order yours from? I wanted to make sure mine had the pitch control so I was a bit skeptical of ordering through Amazon. I do notice that Circuit City has them in stock so I was thinking of picking one up there.
