What are BUZZCOCKS' best/catchiest songs?

I'm totally unfamiliar with them - but Nirvana once mentioned them as an influence, so they must be good to some extent.

What songs would you recommend for a 'newbie?'

I could listen to "I Don't Mind" about a hundred times in a row and not get sick of it. That song just needs to be turned up to 11.
"Ever Fallen in Love" is a close second for me, and I love "Whatever Happened To?" and "Why Can't I Touch It?".

Just buy Singles Going Steady and decide for yourself.

For the record, I personally like "Promises", "Ever Fallen In Love", "What Do I Get", "Lipstick", "Oh Shit!"...

First song I'd look into is "Ever Fallen In Love". There aren't many songs better than that. But wendersfan is your friend.

I'm in total agreement with you. My fav song of theirs.

I'd like to give an honorable mention to "You Say You Don't Love Me" and esp. Steve Diggle's "Running Free", which often goes unmentioned.

Here's a thread I started about them at the end of March:

Buzzcocks fans represent (new songs clips too)

That said "Singles Going Steady" is the obvious choice.

The new Spin has a section on Punk Pop and lists this SGS album w/some commentary.

The only song I really know by them is Orgasm Addict. I always liked that song, but somehow never listened to anything else by them.

Yes, they are pretty good to some extent. Up to a point. Within reason.

Anyway, my favorite is, has always been, and will always be "Love You More". Not that the others mentioned here aren't great. Two more: "Sixteen Again" and "Nostalgia".
