Rank Coldplay's "Keystone" Tracks
How do you rank Coldplay's keystone* tracks from each album: "Yellow" (from PARACHUTES), "Clocks" (from A RUSH OF BLOOD TO THE HEAD) and "Fix You" (from X & Y)?
My vote = #1 "Clocks (evocative and stirring, with that astonishing, swirling piano melody--an all-time perfect classic), #2 "Fix You" (powerful emotions rendered here, ranking just a fraction of a fraction below "Clocks") and #3 "Yellow" (an awesome song in its own right, but rather musically simplistic)
* = yes, I'm sure plenty of you are gnawing at the reigns to insist that Coldplay has better songs than these, but the reality if that, if you don't recognize that these tracks represent the outstanding examples from their three respective albums, then you're just wrong and need to get control of the plane again and start flying straight, ya hear?

interesting that I choose a song from X&Y #1, Parachutes #2, and A Rush of Blood to the Head#3 when I think that overall I like X&Y the best, then Parachutes and then Blood to the Head.

I think these are all Coldplay's most recognizable singles of each album but with maybe one exception they are not the best song on each album.
"Shiver" is the best song on Parachutes, and even "Trouble" is a better song.
"Clocks" is probably Coldplay's catchiest tune they've ever written, or will ever write, but on A Rush of Blood to the Head, "Warning Sign" is better.
And "Fix You? It's good but it's not "Talk"...

Now you're drifting farther from the truth, although, yes, still a good song.

Its always so hard for me to rate Coldplay songs. I usually just group them in clusters.
There are my top tier songs:
Don't Panic
Politik
Square One
A Whisper
Spies
Brothers and Sisters
A Rush of Blood to the Head
Trouble
Those three songs (Clocks, Fix You, Yellow) fall into my second tier of favorite Coldplay songs.

Just to be a dick:
In My Place
Shiver
What If?
To answer your original question:
Yellow
Fix You
Clocks
(although I was the only one to vote this way, I was not trying to be a dick)

to answer the original question, I agree with your sequencing of songs.
however, this is how I would answer the question:
"Spies" (from 'Parachutes')
"The Scientist" (from "A Rush of Blood to the Head")
"Speed Of Sound" (from "X&Y")

"Spies" is by far my favorite track off of Parachutes. I don't know what my favorite is off Rush of Blood....... Been a while since I spinned it. I'll need to give it a listen some time soon. As for X & Y, take your pick off any track of the first 6 or 7, and we're good. Anything from "Speed of Sound" and on is pretty tedious, IMO.

In fact, I would make an argument that The Scientist is actually the "keystone" track on the album.
